Calo des Moro is one of Mallorca’s best kept secret beaches, that everyone knows about. For a long time, this tiny stretch of fine white sand and translucent turquoise blue water, was relatively unknown because of the difficulty in reaching it, but lately the word has spread and this unspoilt beach can now become very crowded in the summer months. Located on the southeast of the island, about six kilometres from the town of Santanyi, Cala des Moro is popular with locals and now with tourists, particularly Germans, who appreciate the adventure of getting there and it’s impressive beauty.
The beach is about 40-metres long and the sea stretches far out between steep cliffs. The beach is surrounded by pine trees and low lying scrubs and plants.
Though the water is calm, this is less a child-friendly beach as there is often limited room to play on the sand and particularly because of the steep decent to arrive. In addition, there are no facilities, no restaurants, no lounge chairs and umbrellas, and no water sports for hire, and little very close by. In peak summer months it can be difficult to stake out a place on the sand. Many people leave their bags on a rock and simply enjoy the water. You are on your own here, which of course is part of its...
Read moreAbsolutely stunning 'hidden' cala with beautiful shades of blue and green waters. This place is teachable on foot around 30 mins walking distance. Cons: in high season waaaaay to many people! too many people make access to this cala very difficult and time consuming. Going down to the small beach is done only through a 1 way small passage which allows 1 person at a time, aaaand of course people are dumb on vacation. It can take you even 30 mins of waiting time to go down or come back up. I suggest coming very early in the morning. too many people means that on the small beach there's absolutely no place to put your towel, unless you come early. worst , too many people means the matter is very murky and if You're here for snorkeling you have to push yourself further out the cala, at your risk and perril seeing there are idiots with boat completely ignoring navigation rules close to the shore.
I still suggest coming here , but perhaps come to Palma in a lower season to...
Read moreNice looking place but not recommended at all for families. Note - it is an unofficial beach and the path down is ONLY for the fit. It might depend on the route you take but once there to get down to the sea is also very difficult. There is almost no space on the beach. It is all rocks. The sea is a beautiful colour but it gets deep very quick and was not calm on our trip even though it was a nice day. Almost everyone who did the 1k walk from the car park turned around and went back after a quick dip. Very very beautiful but really wasn’t worth the time we spent. I hope this helps. Any mums / dads out there thinking of taking the little ones - don’t do it. There’s much nicer and safer places on this...
