O Facho de Donón — Attraction in Cangas

Avoid at all costs! Far better options in the area and much cheaper! Booked a table for 4, arrived on time and told to wait for the waitress despite being on crutches so not a great start. We then tried to order tge drinks whilst deciding what to eat and were told in a harsh tone that we could not order the drinks without the food. I don't eat onion and so specifically asked for a mixed salad with no onion. Salad arrived with onion I politely explained I had asked for no onion and was told "no you forgot to tell me (!)" In a very unfriendly and frankly unprofessional manner. Ordered croquetas for my son from the children's menu and instead he was given pork chops with chips adult portion. My octopus with clams was basically a plate of clams with a few bits of chewy octopus and a green gluesauce (!)... in addition to that the room is incredibly noisy and because there were 3 tables cooking their own food at the table in a hot stone it was hot and smelly in the room. We ate as quick as we could, didn't order dessert and left. Needless to say we won't return! My advice to the management is to sort out the staff to ensure they are friendly and professional, and invest in some long curtains/ false ceiling...

Los escasos 160 m sobre el nivel del mar do Monte do Facho no son problema para que desde el alto se pueda divisar todo un mundo; Desde Cabo Silleiro en Baiona, pasando por toda la bocana de la Ría de Vigo, las Islas Cíes que parecen desde aquí a tiro de piedra, la Ría de Pontevedra con las Islas Ons, toda la Costa de la Vela, Finisterre y sobre todo la inmensidad del Océano Atlántico.

El castro de Monte do Facho

Arriba veremos las excavaciones del poblado castrexo llamado conocido como Beróbriga. Se pueden apreciar casi cincuenta viviendas circulares, de los cuales unos cuantos adquieren medidas inusuales de entre cinco y siete metros de diámetro y sobre todo un sinfín de piedras derramadas por toda la ladera provenientes de las viviendas y murallas que rodeaban el recinto.

Se dice que incluso antes del poblado castrexo se situaba uno mucho más antiguo, quizás del siglo X al VII a.c. habitado por los pueblos de las comarcas llamados Helleni, cuya extensión era muy grande, pero del que no quedan casi vestigios. Posteriormente fue habitado por los pueblos castrexos desde el siglo IV al I a.C. aproximadamente. En el siglo II a.C. vendrían los conquistadores romanos que no serían capaces de que la población dejara de adorar a sus dioses ni perder sus creencias que perdurarían durante casi cuatro siglos después. Uno de los dioses locales era el llamado Bero Breus, quién da el nombre el castro de Monte do Facho. I'm giving 5 stars for the spectacular, breathtaking views and not the archeological site. Wind your way up the hill along an ancient Celtic stone walkway and you'll be stunned by the magnificent views of the coastline. The archeological site leaves more to the imagination than any, perhaps it would be more to interesting with a guide.
