before you even enter the museum, you are greeted with spectacular sea views, gorgeous nature and an abundance of open area playground and grass to explore the absolutely giant dinosaur replicas around the garden. Even without visiting the museum, this aspect of the museum, which is completely free by the way , is worth a visit just on its own. There are lots of photo opportunities and activities to explore, perfect for families with small kids.

before you even arrive, I want you to take a quick satellite image look at the museum to understand what it is molded after, absolutely genius. The structure itself, the huge domes are truly spectacular to behold.

Getting inside the museum is no disappointment, the towering assembled dinosaur bones towering over you underneath the beautiful interior architecture of the domes. Again, even if you wouldn’t be interested in dinosaurs, the place itself and the vibe is utterly impressive.

I do wish the path leading between the different timelines will be more clearly marked out but the fluidity, the ramps leading up to the second floor and back down again was a very pleasant way to explore in a natural and organic way. The objects of the exhibition were very well lit but I found that the general lighting was a bit too modest and too dark but at the same time the tranquility and peace was borderline on a yoga session level. Very relaxing... Almost too relaxing for a tired parent. 😅

all in all it was a fantastic experience and I have absolutely no major things to criticize, even the parking is plentiful. Definitely come and visit this fantastic...

A very good plan to spend a day or a few hours with children. If the weather is good, even better.

The first thing that catches your attention about this centre is its garden with replicas of dinosaurs. My children loved it. And you do not have to pay to visit the garding!

The Jurassic Museum of Asturias is located in the area of Rasa de San Telmo near the parish of Llastres in the municipality of Colunga.

This museum was inaugurated in 2004 and is shaped like a tridactyl dinosaur footprint. In its facilities, which overlook the Cantabrian Sea, we find one of the most complete displays in the world about these gigantic animals. NO IR SI ERES AUTISTA!!! (Y aún menos miércoles!) Soy amante de los dinosaurios, y es uno de mis super-intereses cómo autista, me encanta leer libros, ver documentales y sobretodo ir a museos de dinosaurios. Esta era la parada de nuestro viaje que me hacía más ilusión, visitar el museo, aunque ha acabado siendo una experiencia Horrible y llevándome a un Meltdown, y estas son los porqué:

1- La gente con niños maleducados y gritones, por todo el recinto niños maleducados correteando y gritando, padres desentendiéndose de los niños a los que malcrían. Yo llevaba en todo momento puestos mis auriculares de aislamiento de ruido y un peluche cómo fidget y ayuda sensorial, y aún así no ha bastado pasa que no acabara sonreestimulada y con dolor constante de cabeza.

2- A la gente se le llena la boca diciendo con ser inclusivos y que adapten todo para las personas con discapacidades y luego no respetan a la gente de su alrededor que hace una visita y tiene una discapacidad (yo llevaba un lanyard/distintivo poniendo que soy autista y respetaran el espacio personal y los ruidos) aún así tanto los padres cómo niños se cruzaban en tu camino, te golpeaban, si estabas leyendo los rótulos pasaban por delante tapando, te pisaban, ¿que narices?

3- El museo tiene un rótulo y pertenece a los lugares con adaptación para personas con discapacidad y autismo (enseñando en todo momento mi tarjeta de discapacidad) pero cuándo hemos preguntado de poder pasar antes porqué al ser autista no puedo esperar largas colas y menos con tanto jaleo y fuertes ruidos, me han dicho que no y que esperara en otro lugar, finalmente he tenido que esperar una hora entera en el parking de coches alejada del ruido y multitud sin hacer nada. Y ya dentro entrando a la hora de nuestra entrada ha sido un infierno por todo lo anteriormente nombrado.

4- Puntos positivos a destacar: es que en general la exposición de los fósiles y recreaciones de dinosaurios son muy diversas y bien explicadas, sobre todo destacando las huellas de dinosaurios encontrados en Asturias. También la tienda de regalos, de las mejores en las que he estado con gran diversidad de recuerdos de dinosaurios, camisetas y peluches. El paisaje y el lugar dónde se ubica es precioso y los dinosaurios de alrededor al aire libre son increíbles.

Habría disfrutado más de mi visita si la gente fuera respetuosa y educara mejor a sus hijos y si el museo tuviera un mejor protocolo para personas con discapacidad/diversidad funcional. Porqué en cuánto he acabado de leer y ver todo lo expuesto me he ido a paso rápido porqué era inaguantable y con un Meltdown del que me costará días recuperarme.
