Clean and tidy and seems like it'd rarely be busy. easyJet operate out of T2C. If you don't want to get a taxi right outside in to town you need to either get a bus from near the car park or go to the station at the other end of the T2 terminals (don't cross the main road to the car parks, even if the signs seem to suggest that and you can walk through the air conditioned T2A&B). There's a free bus lapping the airport if 10mins is too far to walk. The T10-ticket is good value (at €10 for 10 journeys) as you can get the overground Renfe train with it. The Metro costs €4.60 as you can't use the T10 on it until you get in to the city. Shuttle bus from terminal 1 was very busy and we had to wait a long time to get picked up, then when we arrived at hotel we had a 30 minute que to check in, one poor person with over 50 rooms to check in.
