ABSOLUTE RECOMMENDATION!! I did my Open Water Diver with Mateua and absolutely loved it!! I have never gone diving before but the diving instructors made me feel safe and comfortable. The groups are very small, mostly 3 people with two instructors/ 2 guys and one instructor so you are perfectly taken care of under water. They are very well trained and professional, always have a helping hand even though when they are very busy. (In other words: very patient with beginners like me.) The diving spots are also stunning (went to different ones every day), I saw lots of animals under water and if you wish, you can do tunnels and caves. Concerning the whole service and everything I experienced, I‘d say the price is extremely fair - absolutely worth it. Mateua is a very lovely and welcoming crew!! I can also recommend a cold Clara made by Murat or David at the Mateua Bar after a dive ;) Special thanks to Till, Camille, Eva, Andrea, David, Rob, Ignasi, Anna, Carlas, Isaac, Alex, Albert and Adam (hope I didn’t forget anyone) who all made my diving experience unforgettable. I hope to be back soon!! Big thank you and lots of love to the...
Read moreI rented my diving equipment here on the recommendation of a friend. They offer competitive prices, and before the dive we were helped in a friendly and professional manner. I paid a total of €50 for a complete set of gear, a 15L tank, and insurance for one day.
During the dive, it turned out that the connection to the pressure gauge was leaking air, so we ended the dive early. When I reported the leak, a surprised staff member told me he didn’t see it as a reason to stop a dive early, and it felt like he was treating me as if I were some clueless diver… “I’ve been diving for 23 years and there’s always air leaking somewhere,” he said.
Sorry, but during a dive, safety comes first — especially for a less experienced diver like myself (15 dives). When you rent equipment, you do so with the trust that it’s safe. This dive center (where air leaks are apparently normal?!) has lost my trust. I won’t be renting from them again and certainly won’t...
Read moreWe ended up in L’Escala as we found a beautiful Airbnb here. And out of sheer luck decided to call these folks. They speak Catalan, English and Spanish fluently. English was important for me as I do not communicate in either Spanish or Catalan. Right off the bat they were fantastic on the phone. Very quick , next day booking, amazingly easy to schedule. They accept all major credit cards. The diving itself was fantastic. While we didn’t see any big fish the underwater topology is amazing. And the reason I was able to really explore it was because of my main man Gerard. Ask for him. You won’t regret it. We buddied up and he knew the place so well was very relaxed and was able to take me to all the amazing spots. The rest of the team was especially professional and highly engaged in wanting us to have a fantastic experience. Highly recommend going to these folks! They love their job and that makes it a...
