I have a lot of wonderful things to say about this "bodega" and his owner, Claudio. First of all, Claudio is the kind of person who loves what he does and he wants people to understand why he produces wine in a certain way. He explained that the current laws allow "regular" winemakers to thrown dozens and dozens of artificial substances in their wine to alter their flavour and be more "commercial". However, you end up drinking a chemical soup of God knows what and the label on the bottle says is that the wine you have just drunk contains sulphites (which are bad enough anyway). When you drink a truly, 100% natural wine, made with grapes and love, you are feeding your body with something healthy and good. I am not a big drinker at all, but I remember sitting down with Claudio and other people at a recent wine tasting and really drinking what is for me was quite a lot of wine. At the end, I stood up perfectly well, my head totally clear and my stomach in perfect conditions, as if I had not had any wine at all! We are what we eat and, perhaps more importantly, we are what we drink. If we take seriously what we put in our body when we sit down at a table with a dish of food and a bottle of wine in front of us, we can do so much good for our body and ourselves as people. I am so grateful that there are still "crazy" guys like Claudio around, who are willing to work hard every day to pursue their dreams of making the world a better place, starting with a nice glass of wine. I thank you, Claudio, and your family, for what you are doing. As far as I am concerned, I will not drink...
Read moreAn incredible experience from beginning to end. Claudio and his family were extremely accommodating and the wines are truly natural (no sulphur or additives at any point of the process, just grapes and nothing else!) but are very well made! Claudio uses his vast vineyard experience very well and for the short time his operation has been going, the bodega is very impressive. The Listan Blanco with skin contact was funky but approachable and drink crisp and clean and the red wines ranged from super unique (such as a Black Listan matured in pine wood barrels!) to classic with a twist (such as a 100% Syrah done in large barrel which felt like an earthier Cornas with more complexity and mouthfeel depth!) But the crown jewel by far, from what I tried, was the old vines (over 250 Years Old!) Black Listan . That wine was world class, hands down.
If you're in Tenerife and visiting the Valle de Oratava, definitely check out Claudio's wines and give him a visit. Also visit for his dogs, both of whom are super cute and an extra bonus to...
Read moreWhat a find! Best wine in the world!
This place was absolutely incredible. We found this winery here on Google maps and decided to check it out and it was the best decision that we made on the entire trip. This little winery is tucked away in the hills and run by a lovely chap called Claudio. We called on the phone the day before to arrange a visit (this is recommended). When we arrived, Claudio was waiting there to greet us. He took us through into the winery where he already had some samples lined up for us. He gave us lots of information about the wine, the wine making process and the history of his vineyard and the wine of Tenerife. His wine is completely natural. No added sulfites, no preservatives, no acids, nothing. Just grapes. Claudio's natural wines are the best wines we have ever tasted. The experience was totally private and very personal and Claudio was very friendly and accommodating. This visit was the highlight of our trip.
You absolutely MUST visit this winery if you're...
