OMG what a wonderful experience! We were visiting Logrono for 5 days and planned to visit a few wineries while there. The first winery included an educational experience so I wasn’t sure we wanted another tour. I noticed on the website that we could just make a reservation to go to the “Wine Bar” and wow was it wonderful. The employee working at the bar, Pedro, gave us a brief description of thier red, white and rose options. We decided it would be crazy to not try their highest rated wines, so we ordered a few glasses of the best reds and some apertifs: • Jamon Iberico (Iberian ham) • Ventresca de Bonito, Pinones al Horno Polvo de Aceituna Negra (White tuna belly, baked pine nuts and black olive poder) • Anchoas de Santona (Anchovies from Santona) Wow! The food was spectacular and the wines were among the very best we’ve ever had. The experience was...
Read moreCame to the bodega (14.07.2025) from San Sebastian to book a wine tour for 30 people. A member of staff called Natalia who works in the booking office refused to serve us and advised us to go to the website 🤦🏻♂️. Even though it was a Monday and there were no other customers. At the entrance to the winery, you are asked for your passport, as if you are entering a military facility, and customers are of course surprised that they are asked for documents so that they can buy wine and wine tour. As a result, the mood was ruined, the wine tour was cancelled, and we decided not to buy the wine. The winery lost over 2000€ in one day, and dozens of future customers. We will do business with Luis Cañas where customers are welcome. We will not return and do not advise friends to spend money on this bodega where they do not know good manners and customers are...

We were greeted by a employee who hosted the tasting. We tasted four reserva/gran reserva wines and found that the traditional Old World method of making these Riojan wines really did not match our palates. We are used to more rounder wines with less astringency.
During the next week and 25 more La Rioja wineries, we would find the sharp demarcation between traditional wines and wines made in a more "modern" way (their term) which would match better with palates more accustomed to New World wines (more fruit and more fruit forward).
These were certainly elegant wines and would be spectacular with the right meal. Drinking them without a meal left us wanting...
