At the very entrance to the town, nestled in the heart of a roundabout, stands a truly stunning marble mortar. Upon closer inspection, its scale and intricate craftsmanship become immediately apparent. The mortar bowl—crafted entirely from pristine White Macael marble—rises to a height of approximately 3.29 meters and spans about 3.07 meters in diameter at the opening, weighing in at a remarkable 30.9 tons. 
Complementing the bowl is the mortar’s pestle, fashioned perhaps from a different material for artistic contrast. It towers at about 4.73 meters tall, with a diameter of 0.85 meters, and itself tips the scales at 5,820 kilograms (nearly 5.8 tons) .

Read moreMACAEL. (ALMERIA). MORTERO MÁS GRANDE DEL MUNDO. Figura en el libro Guinness de los Records según la placa conmemorativa que consta y otorgado el 28 de Marzo de 2015. Como dice la misma placa es un monumento tanto a las canteras me mármol de Macael como a sus artesanos. Su base está elaborada en mármol blanco con unas dimensiones 3,29 metros de alto 3,07 metros de diámetro interno de la boca con un peso de 30,95 toneladas. La mano (el palo) está hecho de mármol amarilla con una altura de 4,73 metros de altura 0,85 metros de diámetro y un peso de 5,82 toneladas. Situado en una plaza en las confluencias de la carretera AL8411. Avenida de Paco Consentino. El día que fuimos a verlo nos sorprendió una “gota fría” con una granizada impresionante que en pocos minutos inundó la parte baja del pueblo y la rambla.
