Miraflores Golf — Attraction in Mijas

Played 20/9/21 with 16 colleagues. Course in awful condition so much so that if it was at home we'd have walked off and asked for a refund. The first has a spectacular downhill view but the warning lights were already flashing as below the first green looked discoloured. On getting there it was bumpy, over grown and looked diseased. This was a constant theme especially across the front nine, some were clearly so bad that a returfing program had commenced and two greens were 50% roped off and only the other half was in use. The second 9 was only slightly better but obviously by then the damage was done and it was largely impossible by this stage to gage the speed. None of this was explained to us prior to tee off. Large portions of the course had significant dug up mounds of earth marked off as GUR. I fail to see how any independent review of this course can award it 5 stars and fail to mention these glaring shortfalls. PS the spare ribs and the singer in the bar...

Warning about joining the club! We invested in continious playing in Miraflores Golf. We are staying very clise to the club and was chosen for that reason. The right to play is reasonably priced, however that seemed to be sort of hoax because it seemed to concern only the worst tee-times. The biggest mistake was to join the club. We bought the share because we thoughr it would support the year round playing. We were told the share did not contain maintainance costs- fatal error! Suddenly some months ago appeared the support cost structure against all sales talks allthough we decided to abandon the course for the very slow playing and poor green conditions. Player level is very bad and I have never seen so many poor players fishing balls in the over crowded golf round. Good food and generally good service although 1 of the male waiters had to be prompted to supply paper tissues and extra plate to share the food. This is a private golf club restaurant serving a range of dishes including sandwiches. Residents of the Miraflores complex are automatically allowed to use the facilities here as they contribute to its running costs via a contribution to the Miraflores Grand Community.
