Parque Natural Jandía — Attraction in Pájara

We did this excursion at the end of the holiday. Perhaps we should have done this at the beginning, ad it might have tempted us to do explore the island more. If the earth was red, the terrain would look Martian. Our guide Benny was very good. Westerns side of the Jandia is a preservation area and is very unspoilt. Saw a few hippy type campers in sleeping bags on the lovely sandy beach. Take a look at the panoramic picture with mountains in the background. It was also cloudier on this side. Absolutely beautiful area, so much to discover! Difficult to discover by car, because the road to cofete is not asphaltet and quite rough. There is a bus though, that goes from Moro Jable to cofete, twice per day there and back. Or one could do what we did and cross on foot - only with appropriate footwear and windproof equipment! Absolutely stunning views, mountains one side and sea on the other side. It’s breathtaking, the drive can seem a bit tricky but it’s worth it. You can also park anywhere you find space enroute and trek up to the mountains. Spot some goats, there is also a restaurant in cofete you can dine there.
