There is an air of tranquility about this place. In a way it felt like I was being coaxed into feeling the hidden seriousness that lingers behind the true history this place tries to convey. Yet, it depicts a story of old, a story that undoubtedly changed history and without which we all probably wouldn't be where we are today. But, stop a moment between these scenes and let your imagination take you back to the heady days when such a dockside would have been alive with activity. It's difficult to do, but worth the effort. The shouting of orders alone over the hustle and bustle of moving and loading stores, equipment and last minute repairs, would have been deafening. These guys were going off into unchartered waters in tiny and I emphasise the word, tiny ships that look like they wouldn't make it across a reasonable sized lake in the grounds of a large estate! Whether mad, crazy, stupid or just dreamers of fortune and a better life, who really knows why they went. However, as I said earlier the world today would be a different place of these sailors hadn't sought to do the unthinkable. Spend some time stopping and soaking up the stalls and trying the food in the restaurant. The food was very reasonable priced and excellent quality. Would highly recommend. So, is this a place I'd return to? You'd better believe it. Every guest that every comes to stay with us, we'll take here. It just had to be done. 10 out of 10 for every aspect of this effort to transport you to...
Read moreGreat place to get an impression what type of ships Columbus managed to get to make his trip to the East Indies that in the end causing him to discover mid and South America. Overall we had a great time at this place. All the ships were accessible.
Entrance was only 1.50€. Very very cheap if you ask me. We would have paid 10€ and still think it is fine. There are clean well maintained free restrooms.
The state of the ships is mediocre, paint is falling off wood starts to damage, iron is severely corroded, the ropes are getting weathered, they should raise the entrance fee and perform regular maintenance.
Nice storyline inside the museum. Languages inside the museum are Spanish and English.
The information outside is only in Spanish. Two different QR codes we scanned did not get us any other language at all.
The small restaurant is really small and the tables and chairs old and sticky, we were patiently waiting to get our order taken after the last guest left, but we were not helped at all so we left after 10 minutes without...
Read moreUnbelievable place! Reconstruction of 3 ships Christopher Columbus used in his first travel to discover indies and we all know how this ended up! THE Very Place Christopher Columbus and his brill crew set sail for the very first time for the reaches of India only to find impoverished - to the point (of his/their view) of being naked - people. Feeling lost and down they did not even realised they have found the New World. Knowing all this from school does not compare to visit The Muelle de las Carabelas to bring it all in their lives perspective. We are talking a waterfront exhibition with life-size exact replicas of Columbus's three ships: the Niña, the Pinta and the Santa María, built for the 500th anniversary celebrations in 1992. AWESOME!!!Not only can you walk on the ships but also see the village in which they prepared for the long journey. Very interesting and...
