Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa — Attraction in Santa Pau

We downloaded the Itinerànnia app and decided to try out the circular Trail 1. The app itself crashes a lot and needs internet so not the best but the route is well marked.

It took us cca 4h with a longer stop in between in the crater of sta. Margarida volcano.

The trail is quite easy with only a few steep but short climbs on the way if you go in the direction of Croscat - Santa Margarida - La Fageda d’en Jordà (the other direction has more and longer uphill sections). Probably not good if you have younger children as it is still a mountain trail (lots of rocky sections,etc).

There is also the La Fageda cooperative/farm/production on the way, but they do tours only on weekends and in English only for pre-booked groups.

It’s a nice and easy trail, lots of change in scenery so never boring. Great way to get a feel...

Premièrement nous arrivons, des viennoiseries nous sont proposées ainsi qu'une boisson chaude. En attendant nous pouvons voir le personnel en train de gonfler dehors les montgolfières ce qui est fou à voir ! A l'arrivée on nous attribue une carte avec une montgolfière en photo, cest la montgolfière dans laquelle nous allons monter. Le pilote nous appelle et nous aide à monter dans la montgolfière. On nous propose de donner notre portable pour faire une photo avant le départ. Une fois dans les airs le pilote explique ce que nous voyons que ce soit pour le côté histoire ou le côté géographique. J'explique que j'ai le vertige mais le pilote tente de me rassurer et ouvre la bouteille de Champagne pour me détendre. La vue est absolument incroyable c'est une expérience vraiment magique malgré le vertige ! Apres 1h15 de vol environ le pilote décide de nous faire atterir. Le vent n'est pas favorable à cela mais le pilote est extrêmement professionnel et se reprend à plusieurs reprises pour être sur d'atterrir en toute sécurité. Après l'atterrissage une voiture vient nous chercher pour nous raccompagner. Une fois de retour nous passons 2h à table à manger de la charcuterie, du pain à la tomate, des saucisses avec flageolets qui sont là spécialité de la bas. Le pilote reste avec nous tous ce temps là nous faisant part de ses expériences et de sa bonne humeur. Il nous explique qu'il est là depuis 1992 et que tous s'est toujours bien passé car il maîtrise son métier. Cela fait plaisir de faire une activité comme celle-ci sans avoir l'impression qu'on vous expédie pour faire du chiffre ! Le pilote prend même de son temps pour nous expliquer à mon copain et moi, les lieux à visiter dans la région et nous donne une carte. En résumé, expérience magique et prise en charge...
