It's a beach. Hopefully you already knew that.
What makes this beach better than all the others we've been to in Mallorca is the infrastructure and the cove.
Situated in a national park, you have to park you car in a free car park around 6 mins walk away. There is a reasonably(ish) priced mini market next to it if you forgot sunscreen, drinks or anything else.
The sand on the beach is smooth and clean. Very little foliage sits on it, unlike some other beaches. While not the largest beach in the world, I would not call it crowded (July 2021).
Sunbeds are available and it's around €16 for 2 beds and an umbrella (2021 price). I believe the price is the same at all beaches in Mallorca. However, if you want one, arrive before 10am.
Clean toilets are available in the beach cafe. The cafe is better than most beach cafes. Yes it's expensive and not the food isn't Michelin star. But it's decent enough for a spot of lunch and no more expensive than any other beach from cafe. You are paying for the location, of course.
A lifeguard is on duty to protect the swimmers from pedalos who dare encroach on the roped off swimming area.
Best of all, the sheltered cove means the beach is somewhat protected from the elements. In the first half of the day the sea is very calm. Small waves start appearing in the afternoon.
There is almost no seaweed or rocks. Yay!
If you want clear blue water and some nice...
Read moreCala Mondragó is an absolute gem on the Mallorca coast—a place where the beauty of nature truly shines. Tucked away in the Mondragó Natural Park, this beach is a haven for those seeking crystal-clear waters, soft golden sand, and an unspoiled Mediterranean landscape. Surrounded by pine forests and rocky cliffs, the beach feels like a slice of paradise that remains largely untouched.
One of the best things about Cala Mondragó is the atmosphere. It’s calm and family-friendly, perfect for both relaxation and adventure. The waters are shallow near the shore, making it ideal for children, and there’s plenty of space for snorkelling along the rocks, where you’ll find a variety of marine life in the clear water. For those who enjoy exploring, there are scenic walking trails that offer panoramic views of the coastline and lead you to smaller, hidden coves nearby.
Facilities here are simple but sufficient, with a small beach bar serving refreshments and loungers available to rent. There’s also parking close by, though it can get busy during peak times, so it’s best to arrive early.
What makes Cala Mondragó special is the feeling that you’re stepping into a quieter, more authentic Mallorca. Unlike some of the island’s busier beaches, this one has a laid-back vibe, with fewer crowds and no towering hotels in sight. It’s a place to disconnect, soak in the sun, and enjoy Mallorca’s natural beauty...
Read moreMom review. Put in Cala Mondrago Parking in Waze (Google Maps takes you to the wrong road.) It’s 6 euros and you can pay credit card or cash although they prefer card as they don’t have a lot of change. Came in October 2nd and it’s still hot and water is not cold and clear to swim. The chairs to rent on Cala Mondrago are not there anymore but there are chairs for rent on Cala S’A.. which is just a few min walk along the cliff on a walkway if you keep going to the right. That beach is larger but has more seaweed. Cala Mondrago is shallow and easy to bring a baby in. There are bathrooms to the left in the pines or in the restaurant to the left inside (they have a baby changing table.) The restaurant is reasonable. Don’t get the pan con tomate it’s bad. The second beach has small steps up and down so not accessible if you have a stroller but Cala Mondrago beach has a boardwalk that connects the road to the restaurant and it was a short roll onto the beach. No concessions that sell beach gear so being an umbrella if you need shade. There is a small kiosk as well that sells some food. The beach is in a national park and protected. There are several hiking trails as well. There is a third small beach I didn’t go to...
