We stayed for 6 nights through Eurocamp. We chose Vilanova Park as we preferred to fly and it is only about 25 mins drive from Barcelona airport.||Accommodation: |We booked a comfort 3 bed. It was modern and clean with air con. There was a large decking area which was partly covered - we were greatful for the shade with the 30-33 degree heat! We pre-booked the bedding and towel package. There was a welcome pack which contained a mini bottle of washing up liquid, a mini bottle of general cleaning liquid, one toilet roll, a dish cloth and a green scrub. Handy! |The downside of the accommodation is the size of the bedrooms - barely room to walk between the beds. It was extremely tight. The toilet is separate from the shower room and only has the toilet in a tiny room - very claustrophobic! The sink is located in the shower room so that was a bit of a pain. Hand towels are not included in the bedding and towel pack so maybe pack your own. The storage space is limited in the kitchen and twin bedrooms. They could do with adding a few hanging hooks around the place on walls/back of doors in all the rooms. No tv or oven in the accommodation. There is a |decent size fridge/freezer, a kettle, toaster, microwave and 4 ring hob. Sufficient delph, cutlery and cooking utensils are supplied. |Despite keeping the place very clean we still had some ants. And mosquitos are plentiful too given the forest setting so pack your repellent!||Eurocamp staff:|After checking in at the main reception upon arrival, we were met by one of the eurocamp reps who brought us to the accommodation in their little buggy. The park is quite large and we were up a hill near the back...a bit of a trek in the heat but we got used to it. It took about 12 minutes from where we were to walk down to the main pool and restaurant area...a bit longer to walk back uphill. We had a couple of minor issues during our stay (toilet not flushing, shower hose broken) but each time we phoned the eurocamp reception on site and the issue was addressed super quick.||Pools:|The best thing about this park is definitely the pool areas. There is a large pool near the restaurant with loads of sunloungers and a grassed area. There is also a kids pool with a mini slide in this area. Further up the park there is another large pool area, again with sunloungers and a grassed area, and waterslides. ||Bars/snacks:|- There is a wagon serving drinks, cocktails, pizzas, burgers and a few other options at the pool area with waterslides. At night there is live music up there too.|- There is a wooden shack serving drinks, slushies and ice-creams at the main pool area. |- There is a 'food station' and an ice-cream parlour just behind the main entertainment area...just past the main restaurant. The food station menu is quite limited however and could do with expanding their savoury options beyond their paninis. They also serve waffles and crepes here. |- There is a wagon opposite the supermarket which sells hot dogs although this was never open when we passed by.||Restaurant:|The main restaurant is a lovely setting although we were repeatedly disappointed with the service. It was extremely slow, even during quiet times. We waited long periods on several occasions both to order and receive our drinks upon sitting down. The only staff that seemed capable and efficient were Sandra and Pamela. On several occasions we tried to catch the attention of other staff but they just walked past.|The menu is quite limited (tapas, pizzas, steak, fish, 1/2 chicken, risitto, pasta) but the food does come out quick enough once ordered. Spud lovers beware... there are no potato options! Also avoid the 'English breakfast' as the sausage is just half a frankfurter 🤢. No butter provided for the toast or milk for the tea either. |The restaurant tends to be quite busy from 8pm onwards.||Activities:|There are plenty of activities on site, some occur an extra fee. There is table tennis, mini golf, a 'jumping pillow', mini karting, soccer pitches, basketball courts and a few kids playgrounds. There us a mini disco at 8pm each night and an entertainment show at 10pm each night. Music is played over speakers during the day at both pool areas.||Other amenities:|- Supermarket was OK but don't expect to find your kerrygold butter or denny sausages|- Souvenir shop is small but has a few bits in there. You'll also be able to get sunscreen, towels, pool rings, etc. in here. They also sell bus passes and laundry tokens here.|- Laundry room has lots of washers and driers. We used this once with no issue. Tokens are €6 for a wash and €4 for drying. Detergent is included in the wash (built in). Tokens are available in the Souvenir shop.|- Buses go from just outside the park entrance to the local city, Vilanova il Geltru, every 30 minutes. This trip takes about 20 mins. There is also a bus into Barcelona but we didn't use this. The Souvenir shop sells bus tickets - multitrip tickets are at a reduced price. It cost us under €8 return in total for 5 of us to go into Vilanova i la Geltru on the bus.|- Wifi is an extra charge...€20 per device for the week but the signal still wasn't great up where we were at the back of the park. Thankfully our roaming data worked on most of our mobile phones and we only needed to buy WiFi for one device.|- Main reception has a hut where they will store your luggage on the day of your arrival while you wait for accommodation to be ready and/or on the day of departure after you have to check out of the accommodation. There is also a shower block for campers that can be used on your last day if you have a late flight. Although you need to be out of the accommodation at a certain time you can still use the parks' facilities later in the day if needed. There is also an ATM machine in the...

Read moreVilanova Park is a good site and we had a very pleasant stay. ||The pool areas are fantastic, in great condition and well maintained. Especially the water slide area. There was great availability of sun loungers, albeit you had to be quick (and creative) to get some shade. It was much busier at the weekend with a lot of locals camping. The park itself is well maintained, albeit there were a few areas that looked like residential sites that were pretty old and scabby.||The supermarket is good, albeit a few times I went in the morning and had no meat left and had to go back again later. Prices are reasonable given they have a captive audience with no shops you can walk to. ||We stayed in an air conditioned static managed by Eurocamp. Eurocamp staff were good. It's our 3rd time in 4 years staying with Eurocamp (at all different sites) and while it was acceptable, this was the poorest accommodation we have had. Just a bit less good than others but spacious and still ok for us. ||Location is decent, but this is really a park designed around having a car. I tried to walk into town one day and the roads are really not suitable for walking. There is a regular bus service that is low cost to get into town (€1.65 each way) as well as 3 coach services each day into Barcelona (€6.35 each way). It took around 50 mins to Barcelona and this was a fantastic service. Taxis were tough to get, not really an option that I would want to rely on at the Park or in Vilanova. ||Vilanova i la Geltru is a nice coastal market town and has a good selection of shops and cafes down their main road (La Rambla) and some really nice restaurants along the sea front. We didn't use the beach, but also looks good and the bus takes you right down there). ||The animacion staff were good and enthusiastic. There was keep fit and sports organised during the day (which we didn't do), but seemed to have plenty of engagement. And at 9pm there was a kids disco. This was really for young kids (3 to 7) and was very repetitive with the same show each night. Unfortunately you had to sit through this if you wanted a seat for the main show at 10pm. ||This brings us to the main issue for us. The entertainment and main stage area we found was really poor. We probably caught around 7 shows and only 1 we could say was good (which was a Michael Jackson tribute). This was a 1 hour show at 10pm each night. Weekends was just an in house DJ. It was a struggle to get tables or even a seat. There are a lot of seats, but too many people and the space is just not big enough. Was not enjoyable to have to go down before 9pm and sit for over an hour through the kids disco to have a seat for the main show, and then very disappointing when it was just people dancing to a backing track. ||I think this could be a much better area if they managed to push the stage back a bit and try and create a bigger space with more tables. Have the kids disco on a bit earlier and then a quiz or karaoke on for adults before the main show. The bar only opened at 9pm and usually had 1 person serving. I'm sure they could expand this and have more bar staff or table service to make more money to pay for better acts. ||We found the acts on at the top bar much better. This was usually a singer or band, with 1 magic show each week as well. But there wasn't something on every night and the area is really just a restaurant rather than a proper entertainment venue. ||Entertainment is really important given it's a trek into town, we weren't going to do into town and stay out late with the kids and for us, it was the most disappointing aspect of the site. ||But it's great for proximity to Barcelona and the pool areas are excellent and as good as anywhere we have stayed. We would def consider this again when looking at another...
