My visit to Seethawaka Wet Zone Botanical Garden was one of the most peaceful and refreshing experiences I’ve had in a long time. Nestled in the lush greenery of Avissawella, this garden is truly a hidden gem for anyone who loves nature, silence, and the gentle beauty of Sri Lanka’s wet zone.

The moment I entered, I was surrounded by the sound of flowing water, birds calling, and the soft rustle of leaves. It’s hard to describe in words — it feels like the entire garden breathes life and calmness into you. The air is fresh and cool, and everywhere you look, you see different shades of green blending beautifully with small streams and flowering plants.

Improving export floriculture, ex-situ conservation of wet lowland plants, and bamboo cultivation are also promoted in this garden. The garden was opened to the public in late October 2014 and it is the most recently constructed botanical garden in Sri Lanka. History.....
