Unluckily we were around this place when the museum was closed, however it was worth it to stop a see the rock carvings in the place. It is possible to visit the area for free and even if he museum is closed. It is a big area with several carvings, and a great view of the river passing besides. There are even a couple of spots around for having a picnic.

Nämforsens Hällristningsmuseum provides a very well prepared little exhibition on rockcarvings and even rockpaintings (free access) and the helpful and well informed personal gladly answer all questions as well as do free guided tours (12.00 & 14.30 in 2021) From here you can walk to see the rockcarvings in like 10 minutes or take the car.

Dottern guidade oss runt hällristningar och inne i museet då hon jobbar där i sommar. Väldigt häftigt att se alla dessa ristningar och riktigt kul att bli guidad av henne. Vackert landskap och maffigt med forsen. Hällarna kan vara lite hal efter regn och när vinden ligger på från forsen, så ta bra skor! Museet har ett fik och lite försäljning. Över 2000 ristningar ska finnas i Nämforsen.

Great place , would love to go again, but maybe a little run down , could do with a bit more love/care taking of the trails, didn't really understand where we could and couldn't go , like where the trail was when you weren't on the wooden platforms, but a great...
