Smøgen is famous for its beautiful wooden houses from the 1600-1700s. Here you will find the tranquility of rorbuer, narrow alleys and streets with galleries and studios at every corner. Add legendary "Smøgenbrygga" with shops, bars and restaurants, and you know this is the place to charge the batteries. No wonder those around 1400 permanent residents every summer get the company of thousands of tourists who want to experience the distinctive mood. Are you fond of art, culture and delicious seafood? Then the archipelago sludge Smøgen is in the midst of the flash for you. Charming wooden houses, cozy cabins and narrow alleyways and streets full of art. I experienced Smøgen as a quiet and peaceful place for balm for body and soul. But it's now only 1 week ago, the little place was full of summer tourists. Smøgen has beaches, swabergy you can swim and fish from, and idyllic hiking trails along the water. You will find several very good fish and shellfish shops, and shrimp is obviously the specialty. There are also many fish farms and shops where you can buy fish, shellfish and ready-made meals. The bridge continues with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants with outdoor seating. I guess there are 3-4 view points and you can spend full day here very easily. Restaurants are expensive. Buses are not frequent...
Read moreBeautiful place, worth to visit definitely. I would prefer "winter" season (September/October) and during working days so the place won't be overcrowded. We were there in the first half of September, Wednesday, around 2pm and almost all restaurants were closed. Just few tourists, which was positive. What I don't recommend at all is the Light festival which happens each year. It was so boring! Just few projections on houses or rocks and few other boring places with lights. OMG! Who can find this interesting??? Thousands of people coming to see this?? The ticket is 150SEK - ridiculous, you pay to...
