Stora Essingen is an island and a district in Stockholm, next to Lilla Essingen in Mälaren. The island is 73 hectares in size, and is surrounded by Essingefjärden, Essingedjupet, Essingesundet, Klubfjärden and Oxhålet. This size makes the island significantly larger than its neighbor Lilla Essingen. The district borders Fredhäll, Lilla Essingen, Gröndal, Smedslätten, Äppelviken and Alvik.
