Tyresö church is built of red brick and was built on behalf of Baron Gabriel Oxenstierna. He died in November 1640 and the first service performed in the church was the builder Gabriel's own funeral in March 1641. Most medieval Swedish churches have been hit by fire and Tyresö church was affected in the year 1740.
