Fantastic place! You won’t be disappointed! We did a lot of things at this showcase Emmentaler cheese making dairy farm and we loved it all, kids and adults alike.

First we ate at the restaurant and we were met by the friendliest servers ever, followed up by a fantastic hearty traditional meal (try the käseschnitte!) all while enjoying the view over the rolling hills while the snow was falling. The restaurant is traditional yet modern and has the cutest details all around; from the flower pots/info signs, to the ornamental cow bell lights, and the wooden interior. Everything is clean and functional yet homey.

We then did the cheese making course which lasted one hour. The interactive and engaging course was delivered in German by a knowledgeable and entertaining male with room for questions, translations and laughter. We took turns helping with the cheese making in the copper pot and all had a blast. We got to take the cheese home afterwards.

We also did the underground tour, which comes in multiple languages, and thought it was incredibly well done. Both from an information and decorative perspective. We definitely never knew that there was so much we didn’t know about cheese.

We visited the bakery and bought delicious and fresh bread.

We also bought several things from the shop which all have a very high standard of quality, uniqueness, locally sourced and made.

We will be back and we will bring...

We booked the Cheese Making class for our family and we had a great time, not just while making the cheese, but our entire time there. The class package included lunch (which was great...got to pick anything from the menu), the audio guide tour, and a cheese tasting. This was a really great time learning how to make cheese, being in a beautiful setting, learning about the history of cheese making (which included the farmers who supplied milk) here, and tasting the cheeses. It was like a wine vertical...tasting how Emmentaler cheese tastes as it ages. And of course, we got to buy fresh cheese from the gift shop. It was a really great afternoon spent...and we got to take our cheese home (well,...

It was ok, not bad and not great either. Clean & Nice Good Playground for Kids Live Cheese making old and new style Shop with nice variations of emmentaler (up to +30 month old cheese) and other cheese Great food with some extra cheese (if you don't like emmentaler you may give it a miss :P) Limited Parking Places (it was full when we were there, so we had to park in the village somewhere) Not that much information about cheese Very touristic and can be crowded (the restaurant was full, not all could have a seat) The personell didn't had time to hand out riddle/hunt for kids (we waited 10 minutes before we left the welcome center to explore...

We were lucky enough to spend an entire day at this show dairy, and got quite a full experience. We went on a Saturday and started with a delicious lunch. I highly recommend the fondue and the local lager. Then, the kids enjoyed the playground while we adults took in the picturesque views. Next, we attended a cheese making workshop, where we could make our own soft cheeses. Finally, we took a cute educational tour. A great day trip, and pretty simple to access by train and bus. I emailed ahead of time to make our reservations and register for the workshop, but bought all of the tickets at the venue.
