Great arena. It is also famous for many events, like the Avenches Tattoo. Worth visiting if you are around there. Be careful about falling, when you walk in the arena and move between the steps. In the back of the arena is a sign with some background information. Like it was built around 100 years after christ and can hold up to 16'000 people, which is half the colloseum in Rome. The Colosseum at Avenches has been on my bucket list for a long time but I was a bit disappointed when I finally visited.
It just seemed to me to be too renovated and too "new".
Concerts are held regularly there so there is lots of metallic seating which to me spoiled the atmosphere...
