Great arena. It is also famous for many events, like the Avenches Tattoo. Worth visiting if you are around there. Be careful about falling, when you walk in the arena and move between the steps. In the back of the arena is a sign with some background information. Like it was built around 100 years after christ and can hold up to 16'000 people, which is half the colloseum in Rome. Some Cafes in the small town just next to it.

If you are walking from the Train Station you will reach this place in about 20 minutes. There is not an exact date of construction. It must have been in the first century a.D. It is very well-preserved. You can walk around and even go to the arena where the gladiators used to fight for their lives against other gladiators or animals. This place should top your list of places to visit in Avenches.

I love ancient history. Especially Greek and Roman. The Colosseum at Avenches has been on my bucket list for a long time but I was a bit disappointed when I finally visited. It just seemed to me to be too renovated and too "new". Concerts are held regularly there so there is lots of metallic seating which to me spoiled the atmosphere of the place.

The was unfortunately closed and it was very queit. Still a magnificant sigh with the castle close and don't miss the other ruins down the hill over the road. Only a little walk but worth it as you can walk through them. Piece of history under your feet!

10.08.22, Festival «Rock Oz‘Arènes», Avenches: Vorband WORRY BLAST: mittelmässig. Hauptband STATUS QUO: absolute klasse!😍👍 Das Amphitheater ist per ÖV gut erreichbar; ab SBB Bahnhof benötigt man zu Fuss zirka 10 bis 15min. Rund um das Amphitheater und auch innerhalb des Stadions hat es viele Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten; grosser Vorteil: diverse Stände akzeptieren die Bezahlung per Kreditkarte! Die Hygiene der WCs ist unterdurchschnittlich. Die Mitglieder des Staffs sind freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Amphitheater ist überschaubar und die maximale Besucheranzahl nicht riesig, dafür ist das Ambiente im Stadion auch bei kleinerer Besucheranzahl trotzdem sehr gut. FAZIT: empfehlenswert!👍

Amphitheater und Römisches Museum:🇨🇭 Alles Dokumentiert in Wikipedia, sehr interessante Geschichte.Zur Römerzeit hiess die Stadt Aventicum. Bevor man diesen Interessanten Ort Besucht wäre es nicht Schlecht,sich Über die Geschichte zur Damaligen Zeit zu informieren.🇨🇭 Für mich ist das Alles nicht Neuland,denn wir Wussten von der Schule her Eigentlich,wie es zu dieser Zeit war.Ich habe meine Bücher hervor geholt und wieder einmal mich mit diesen Themen befasst.Denn die Zeit Heute sieht Ähnlich aus wie Damals.Natürlich von der Entwicklung der Technik,Abzusehen!🇨🇭 Öffnungszeiten: Jeden Wochentag von 10:00 17:00 Mittwoch, Donnerstag, Freitag, Samstag, Sonntag, Montag, Dienstag!
