A must while in Switzerland. I mean it's a huge glacier that you take cable cars up the mountain to be able to see.... Why not check it out? Der Aletsch Gletscher fließt mit rund 30cm am Tag gen Tal. Trotzdem zieht er sich immer schneller zurück. Der Hang unter dem View-Point hat den Gegendruck und die Kühlung des Gletschers verloren. Er beginnt zu rutschen. Das wunderbare ehemalige Wandergebiet unterhalb des View-Points ist gesperrt. Nur noch abgesteckte Bereiche entlang der Kante dürfen begangen werden. Hier sind breite und tiefe Spalte sichtbar, die das Abrutschen des ganzen Hanges verdeutlichen. Es hat ein Ausmaß, dass keine technische Maßnahme es je aufhalten könnte. Es dürfte in die Größenordnung von über 1 Million Tonnen gehen, was hier an Erdreich und Fels der Schwerkraft folgend am Abgleiten ist.
