If I want to describe this place in just one word, I should say that it is AMAZING and it is a must-see place in Vevey. With your ticket you can visit four places: Chaplin’s house (In 3 floors and a balcony. He was living there for the last 25 years of his life! After visiting this home, you literally can feel yourself part of Charlie Chaplin’s family.), Chaplin’s Studio (here you can watch and enjoy a 10 minutes movie about highlights of Charlie Chaplin’s life and then you go through different stage sets of his movies), the garden and the souvenir shop. The staff are really informative and helpful and at least they can speak two languages: English and french. Chaplin’s World is just great and interesting and it is really worth visiting it. Even just the studio worth more than the ticket price! the scenes are really superb mirror of the original film sets. This place has also a parking with plenty of space for visitors (it is not for free). Chaplin’s world has also a cafe which looks good (but we didn’t try it, so I have no idea about the quality of food 🙈) If you are visiting this place, Charlie and Oono Chaplin’s cemetery are in another place near the museum. It is 15 20 minutes walk from Charlie’s world (and just 4 minutes with car). It is a normal Graveyard but it worth visiting!(It has no entry fees)

A wonderfully emotive experience, both for long time fans of the artist and the man like me, and for those with no prior knowledge of Chaplin (my daughters). The manoir is presented in beautifully evocative style, which provides a good idea of how it would have been when Chaplin spent his final years there. The studio, tour and incredible artefacts (original costumes, Oscars etc.) cannot fail to be fascinating, to anyone with even a passing interest in film history or the arts. The only slight disappointment - a missed opportunity with some of the detail, eg. the restaurant serves general fare, rather than perhaps offer some snacks preferred by the great man himself. And the gift shop has a good collection of books, DVD’s etc but nearly all are in French. Given that Chaplin famously never mastered the language despite his many talents, the availability of a good selection of books and movies in the language of the artist himself (and to be frank the reason for the museum being there) might have made more sense and offered broader appeal (we heard many American, Canadian and Australian accents just on the day we visited). Overall though, much more worthy of a visit than any other museum you are likely to find. An emotional tribute to one of the few true geniuses, and a lifelong itch now scratched. Smile 🙂

Visiting the Charlie Chaplin museum above the city of Vevey yesterday was like coming back to my childhood. I remember going to Rome with my parents in 1954. The cinema facing our hotel Inghilterra close to the Spanish steps played Limelight and the loudspeakers were facing my hotel room keeping me awake till well after midnight every night. I think I have seen almost all of Chaplin's films from his early years till his more political films from the end of his career before being expelled from the US so there was not much that I didn't recognize or remember. However for the younger generation, this museum is a treasure trove and well worth visiting. When you enter the museum you are first shown a 10 min summary of his most important production and are thereafter directed to a series of rooms where you are shown how his films were shot and directed. In the nearby mansion where he lived with his young wife and children after having left the US you can partly see how the family lived and partly photographs and other memorabilia from his rich life. The shop is very commercially oriented. If you didn't know much about Charlie Chaplin you should definitely spend half a day here not forgetting to stroll through the magnificent park surrounding the mansion.

We came in with very little expectations, after visiting other museum homes, but we sure left content and entertained. Not to spoil experience for others, it is worth to say that museum allows you to get immersed into Chaplin's epoch, his films, his family life. Museum consists of Studio, his house and large promenade. Each of the sites is very nice in it's own way. We found the best way to enjoy is to take your time, review every small detail, interact, observe the scene. Museum is situated away from city buzz and indeed allows you to get lost in time in green pastoral and Chaplin's world. Children will definitely love it, even if they never heard about king of silent movie. There is a great gift shop with unique memorabilia, like Chaplin's cane, false moustaches, round hat and so on. We couldn't resist from buying soivenirs to remind us about this visit. We visited during covid time, so there were short lines, but not too much. There is a restaurant and bar on site with a nice covered terrace where you can enjoy nice meal. Alternatively you can bring some meal with you and enjoy it at museum's parking, which doubles as mini camping site.

As such a great cultural initiative and excellent presentation of the material about Chaplin. It is as if he had his studios in Switzerland. In his villa, there are lots of memorabilia, personal things, photographs, authentic furniture from the interiors of his villa on display. The Villa itself where he lived 40 years with his family was passed to the Chaplin’s Trust by two of his sons. The house was bought when Chaplin moved to Switzerland due to being barred from the States. On the grounds of the museum there is a good cafe/restaurant offering tasty food from the Inspired by Chaplin’s movies menu, though the list of dishes limited. Personally, I love their burgers. There are seats inside and outside. The car park is arranged around the grounds in a circle, rather clever as you do not see how many cars are there at any particular moment, which gives more exclusive experience. On the lower note, one criticism - there are too many visitors on the week ends to really enjoy the atmosphere of the house and the studio. Perhaps the best is to visit on a week day, if possible.

Boy oh boy, was this both a massive treat and fun surprise to experience!! I got here together with my girlfriend during the last week in October and we were immediately impressed by the thoughtful and well-placed halloween decorations all over the outside of the museum buildings. The path you had to take through the museum was intelligently planned with each room representing a theme or chapter in Chaplin's life. I especially liked the bathroom where a statue of Einstein stood surrounded by quotes and text explaining his relationship with Chaplin. As you enter the second building which was built in recent times, next to the house Chaplin lived in, you will first be presented to a short movie in a movie theater. What happens next is for you to experience! Overall, this is probably the best museum I've ever been to so far in my life.
