The journey to the summit was as exhilarating as the destination itself, with winding trails offering glimpses of alpine meadows, crystalline streams, and snow-capped peaks at every turn.
Reaching the top, we're greeted by a panorama that defied description. The Aletsch Glacier, a sprawling expanse of ice that stretches as far as the eye can see, lay before us in all its glory. The majesty of the Swiss Alps unfolded in every direction, with jagged peaks piercing the sky and valleys carved by millennia of glacial activity.
But the beauty of Eggishorn extends beyond its natural splendor. The infrastructure in place to accommodate visitors is both efficient and unobtrusive, ensuring a seamless experience without detracting from the mountain's pristine environment. The cable car ride to the summit was smooth and swift.
For outdoor enthusiasts, hiking trails crisscross the landscape, catering to all skill levels and providing opportunities to immerse oneself in the alpine wilderness. In winter, the mountain transforms into a skier's paradise, with pristine slopes and exhilarating descents to delight snow enthusiasts...
Read moreThere isn't much yo say. Must see attraction. Alpen Biggest glacier in . At time of our visit (July 2022) cheap to get into - family ticket ( 3plus dog ) CHF100 Plus you can ride any cable car in whole valley ( Fiesh and surrounding points, takes about 20cable cars plus bus and train ) , I do recommend get up early so you can use this family ticket more. Most "second level" cable cars are running until 04:00 p.m. or 05:00 p.m. but bottom lines are running until 08:00 p.m. or 09:00 p.m. so plenty of time. If you do not have kids you can hike from nearest Viewpoint to here it is about 4 hours of quite hard mountain peaks ( we met 4 adults who just reached Eggishorn after 4 hours of trekking and they said it Was not easy, rather hard challenge) so I prefer cable car:) such a beautiful place it is a Must once in timeline experience I originally live in UK and BenNevis or Snowdon is like box of matches sticks in compare to...
Read moreSwitzerland is stunning.. going up this cable car is an absolute must. It’s an older car that fits maybe 30-40 people in but very smooth.. you wander outside as you arrive at the top and your breath is taken away by the sheer size of the mountains and glacier. You can get beer, coffee and cake at the top in a lovely little alpine cafe. There’s even a single room lodge you can hire to sleep in at the top, but we didn’t do this as it’s always booked up, it even has a hot tub! It is worth checking the weather before you go as thick cloud will mean it’s probably not worth going up! If I lived here I’d take all my friends here when they visited, feels like one of the special places to visit in this beautiful planet. It is worth noting this view point is over 9000 ft so you might feel a little lightheaded but it’s not too bad.. though our water bottle leaked due to the lower pressure.. so do remember to loosen the cap...
