Eggishorn Panorama Trail: Difficulty: Easy Length: 2-3 km Duration: 1-2 hours The Eggishorn Panorama Trail offers a leisurely stroll around the summit of Eggishorn, providing uninterrupted views of the Aletsch Glacier, surrounding peaks, and alpine meadows. The well-marked trail is relatively flat, making it accessible to hikers of all abilities, including families with children and casual walkers. Along the way, benches and viewing platforms offer opportunities to rest and soak in the stunning scenery.

Aletsch Glacier Trail: Difficulty: Moderate Length: Varies (typically 5-10 km) Duration: 2-4 hours The Aletsch Glacier Trail offers a closer encounter with the majestic Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps. The trail winds through alpine meadows and rocky terrain, providing opportunities to witness the glacier's towering ice formations and crevasses up close. While not overly strenuous, the trail does involve some elevation gain and uneven terrain, making it suitable for moderately experienced hikers. Along the way, informative signposts provide insights into the glacier's formation and significance.

Fiescheralp to Eggishorn: Difficulty: Challenging Length: 6 km Duration: Half-day excursion The Fiescheralp to Eggishorn trail offers a challenging ascent from the village of Fiescheralp to the summit of Eggishorn. The trail begins with a steep climb through alpine meadows and forests, gradually gaining elevation as it approaches the summit. While the trail is well-marked, it requires a good level of fitness and stamina due to the sustained uphill sections. However, the effort is rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and peaks along the way.

Märjelensee Loop: Difficulty: Moderate Length: 4-5 km Duration: 2-3 hours The Märjelensee Loop offers a scenic hike around the picturesque Märjelensee mountain lake. The trail meanders through alpine pastures, forests, and rocky terrain, offering glimpses of wildlife, wildflowers, and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. While the terrain is generally moderate, there are some sections with uneven footing and moderate elevation gain. Hikers can enjoy the tranquility of the lake and its surroundings before completing the loop back to the starting point.

Eggishorn to Bettmeralp: Difficulty: Moderate Length: Approximately 8-10 kilometers Duration: Half-day The Eggishorn to Bettmeralp trail offers a scenic descent from the summit of Eggishorn to the charming village of Bettmeralp. The trail follows a well-defined path through alpine meadows, forests, and pastures, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks along the way. While the descent is generally gradual, there are some sections with steeper gradients, requiring careful footing. Hikers can enjoy the tranquility of the alpine landscape and the traditional Swiss architecture of Bettmeralp before descending to...

You can visit Eggishorn at around 2900 m altitude year round. In the summer you can take the gondola to the summit to see the sunrise in case of good weather and only on Friday mornings. The cable car company that organises these excursions accepts a limited number of participants and you register and pay in advance via their internet site. When we went in the beginning of July we had the fortune to be accompanied by 2 traditionally dressed alpine hornists that played for us when the sun rose above the clouds covering the valleys around the mountain. From Eggishorn you can see the longest glacier in the Alps from above, as well as all the important alpine peaks in Switzerland, Italy and France. Afterwards you are served a simple breakfast in the intermediate cable car station above the village of Fiesch. Highly recommended for anyone interested in sun rise photography in the...

Eggishorn is one of the peaks which are offering breathtaking view of Aletsch glacier and the surrounding scenery. You can see also Monch, Jungfrau, Jungfraujoch, Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and other very famous mountains from the base station.

The mountain itself is reachable from multiple towns and directions. If you would like to reach it by the easiest way - take the seilbahn from Fiesch and exchange in Fiescheralp to go up to the same named Eggishorn station. Once you are up, take the the path and hike up to Eggishorn.

I loved Eggishorn and I strongly suggest to visit it once you are coming to...
