Read moreYou can visit Eggishorn at around 2900 m altitude year round. In the summer you can take the gondola to the summit to see the sunrise in case of good weather and only on Friday mornings. The cable car company that organises these excursions accepts a limited number of participants and you register and pay in advance via their internet site. When we went in the beginning of July we had the fortune to be accompanied by 2 traditionally dressed alpine hornists that played for us when the sun rose above the clouds covering the valleys around the mountain. From Eggishorn you can see the longest glacier in the Alps from above, as well as all the important alpine peaks in Switzerland, Italy and France. The mountain itself is reachable from multiple towns and directions. If you would like to reach it by the easiest way - take the seilbahn from Fiesch and exchange in Fiescheralp to go up to the same named Eggishorn station. Once you are up, take the the path and hike up to Eggishorn.
