Schloss Werdenberg — Attraction in Grabs

I had nothing to do on Saturday so I searched on tourism for something near to visit and I found this castle , its very close to the main city of buchs , very easy to find ,I went on the street leading to the castle, you will feel like you went back in time because that part of the village is maintained to look like its straight from medieval times , its gorgeous the lake view with those houses is absolutely gorgeous ,you have multiple ways to get to the Castle on situated on the end of the village (stairs) the other one is a walk up to the main entrance , both with potential for great photos.

When you reach the top you will see a small shop with drinks , snaks and coffee, the castle is open to the public , if free entrance! I saw everything inside it , there are zones where you can listen to the castle'history and many other atractions in both English and German (its a great+!) You will see how it did work, the rooms ,functions ,practically everything.

My visit was super pleasant and inrecpmend to anyone that likes monuments to visit SOFORT...

Du trittst durch ein enges Loch in der Wand in einen hohen, kühlen Raum mit grob verputzen Wänden. Von der hohen Decke hängt eine große, zylindrische Metallkonstruktion. Sie scheint mehrere Ebenen zu haben. Du drückst einen Knopf, das Licht geht aus, und an den Wänden entfaltet sich ein animiertes Schattenspiel, dass in neun Minuten die Geschichte der Glarner Landvögte erzählt.

An diesem heißen August-Freitag bin ich nahezu allein in der mittelalterlichen Burganlage, und das verstärkt die Magie der Entdeckung natürlich um ein Vielfaches. Die Schweizer können Museum, und das erweist sich auch hier auf beeindruckende Weise: Gleich zwei dieser Schattenspiele finden sich im Schloss Werdenberg. Ergänzt wird das durch Kurz-Hörspiele, die in den jeweiligen Räumen per QR-Code abgerufen werden können und Geschichten aus 800 Jahren Geschichte lebendig machen. Das macht die Besichtigung zu einer immersiven Erlebnisreise für Groß und Klein. An besser besuchten Tagen sind eigene Kopfhörer zu empfehlen. Wer kein Smartphone hat, kann vor Ort eins leihen. Doch damit sind die audiophilen Erlebnisse noch nicht vorbei: Anhand eines großen Reliefs der Region kann man mit "Hör mal, wie der Kanton tönt!" typische Geräusche vieler Orte hören. Und im Keller wartet die nächste Multimedia-Inszenierung: Hier wird physisch die Baugeschichte von Schloss und Städtli erzählt.

Tickets gibt es im schönen Bistro im Schlosshof. Aktuell können sie ausschließlich in Kombination mit dem, am Fuß des Hügels gelegenen, "Museum Schlangenhaus" erworben werden. Dafür reicht meine Zeit nicht mehr, aber die freundliche Frau im Bistro vermerkt den Termin meines Besuchs, und so kann ich eine Woche später das Ticket für das zweite Werdenberger Museum nutzen.

Das Schloss Werdenberg ist April bis Oktober geöffnet, darum herum gibt es ein interessantes Kulturprogramm, über das die Website mehr verrät. Will man alles sehen, sollte man für die Entdeckungsreise eher 90 als 60 Minuten einplanen. Und das romantische Städtli selbst ist natürlich immer einen...

MUST VISIT if you are in the city of BUCHS. A small walk from the town leads you to this beautiful place which still maintains its medieval era. The moment you enter the route to the castle, you eyes will catch glimpse of these very old but beautiful houses and the streets. There are multiple photo spots, one on the way up and one on the top, from where you can admire Swiss Alps all around you with small Swiss villages in the valleys. A small shop is present at the top where you can have coffee or snacks as you refresh yourself with the view. There is a small lake there, which provides a stunning view of the castle and the beautiful...
