Castle Kyburg — Attraction in Illnau-Effretikon

The website makes it seem like this site is accessible for disabled people. I learned that is not the case. Even the stone walkway to get up to the castle is extremely hazardous for wheelchairs, walkers and knee walkers (what I was using). When I went to purchase my ticket the lady said nothing about how inaccessible it actually is and didn't offer me a discounted ticket based on the fact that I could only see 3 rooms (which I didn't learn until I had already bought my ticket and gone inside). To top it off many exhibits were closed which the website didn't indicate.

When we wandered back outside to try to find an accessible way around the ticket lady saw us wandering and offered a guide book of the castle for free even though the store was selling it for a decent price. She told us we could have it because the inside of the castle is "empty." I think she felt bad that she sold us tickets to a half-closed attraction and didn't warn me that I wouldn't be able to experience 95% of the castle before I bought tickets.

We spent over an hour commuting to this attraction and an hour back. We spent about 20 minutes there and left extremely disappointed and frustrated. We feel cheated.

The least they could do is clarify that this is not at all an accessible attraction. I wouldn't have wasted my time or money...

Partiamo dalle info pratiche: Il castello si trova alle porte di Zurigo ed è raggiungibile con i mezzi pubblici. Per chi, come noi, optasse per l'auto, potrà lasciarla all'entrata del paese e proseguire qualche minuto piedi. L'entrata costa 12 CHF per gli adulti e 5 CHF per i bimbi fino a 16 anni. È possibile richiedere l'audioguida ad un costo aggiuntivo di 3 CHF, cosa però che non si rende necessaria perché all'interno delle stanze si trovano pannelli anche in inglese, francese ed italiano.

Il castello è davvero molto carino, ben conservato, ottima meta per famiglie con bimbi piccoli che al suo interno potranno visitare l'armeria, le prigioni, la torre ma anche le sale interattive con veri e propri spazi per giocare (dalle costruzioni, agli scacchi, ai modellini...). Il castello è inoltre ricco di angoli interattivi in cui ascoltare storie, osservare dai binocoli le ricostruzioni dell'epoca, visitare il giardino col suo profumato orto Botanico, vedere gli strumenti, abiti e monete dell'epoca medievale e scoprire scorci molto belli sulla vallata. Carina l'idea di inserire piccoli elementi "nascosti" divertenti per bambini (come il drago che sbuca dal pavimento o i pannelli per costruire il "puzzle" del paesaggio nella sala dei libri antichi). L'intero castello è circondato da boschi e tanto verde, cosa che lo rende perfetto per una visita estiva...ma nonostante durante la nostra permanenza fosse molto freddo (con tanto di imprevista nevicata d'aprile), all'interno del castello è presente un piccolo Shop e un angolo ristoro in cui rilassarsi con un caffè, una bibita o qualche snack. Presenti anche WC gratuiti e guardaroba per lasciare gli oggetti ingombranti. La parte più bella? Beh, per noi che siamo andati con figlia di 9 e 12 anni, senza dubbio è stata la bellissima stanza dei travestimenti..dove abbiamo potuto indossare abiti medievali, elmi, armature...il tutto in una location arredata con sfondi e immagini d'epoca per creare foto ricordo a dir poco originali! Insomma, un posto perfetto per una bella gita fuori porta con i figli, a pochi km dal centro di Zurigo, dove arte, cultura e natura si fondono perfettamente....

Äh starke, 1.Idruck, wo eim d Vorfröid ufe (Museum) Rundgang zuesätzlich erhöht.

Das ganze "Museum Schloss Kyburg" isch vieu meh, aus nur äs autbacknigs Museum, wies eim dür Name vielleicht befürchte laht.

Äs isch vieu meh äh üsssert idrückliche Mittelalter Rundgang, wo amene chline Labyrinth ähnlet, wü extrem witlöufig und uf zig verschidensti Igang und Usgäng begehbar isch.

Egal, wome inegeit,usse chunt, ufelouft oder abelouft, am Schluss ändet mä und chunt mä immer wieder am Punkt X ah, wome gstartet isch.

Ganz nachem Motto: Alle Wege führen nach Rom.

Dür Name "Museum Schloss Kyburg" treit das Mueseum vöuig (voukoume) zu Rächt.

Z Thema Mittelalter wird extrem gut belüchtet und symbolisiert.

Sigs dür erwartbari Waffekammere oder durch Rüstige,Ritter etc..

Was bsunders gut gmacht isch und üssert sympathisch übere chunt isch Tatsach, mä geit nit nur ufs Mittelalter ala Ritter,Schloss etc ih, sondern mä überchunt ou äh exklusive Iblick hinger d Kulisse, wie "die eifache Lüt" den zumaus, ih dere Zit gläbt hei und wies denn/dört zumaus usgse het. Sehr ihdrücklich und spannend gstautet.

Was äs bsunders Highlight isch, isch Tatsach, was mä sich säuber cha verwürkliche und orginalgetröi cha verkleide.

Ou extrem cool isch, was mä die Ustelligsstück töuwis cha alänge und säuber cha überzüge, wie schwär uh mühsam die Arbeit zu dere Zit gsi isch.

Äbefaus hervorhäbe möchti dür Schlosshof mitämene/mitemene Orginale Mittelalter Spieu zum teste und usprobiere.

Ou dür Mittelalter Garte ist wunderschön ah der Zit aglehnt/gstautet und ladet förmlich zum spaziere und verwile ih.

Während sich d Kind ufem Spielplatz mit/bi dä Houztier chöi ustobe zum spiele.

Äbefauas glänzt z Museum Schloss Kyburg mitene chline Bistro/Kaffi und amene (chline),aber dafür extrem coole,mit vieu liebi gstautete Souvenir Shop.
