Kleine Scheidegg — Attraction in Lauterbrunnen

This is the last station of the jungfarioch bound mountain train starting either from lauterbrunnen or grindelwald. Trains coming from both routes meet at this station. Because from interlaken to jungfarioch, you can take the train via lauterbrunnen or via grindelwald. Both finally arrive at kleine scheidegg. Here you have to board another train for the final leg of the journey which goes up to jungfarioch station and visitor centre.

There are two queues to board this final train. This is where seat reservation comes into effect. Out of the two queues, one is for those who have reserved seats and the other queue is for those who have not reserved seats. There are entrance gates for both queues. Your ticket QR should be scanned to open.

SPECIAL NOTE If you arrive here by train while going up to jungfarioch, then you have taken the traditional route. When booking jungfarioch excursion tickets online, for up and down journeys seperately you have to select whether you want to take traditional route or new route. If you select new route, you need to take the eiger express cable car from grindelwald terminal (not grindelwald). It brings you to eigergletscher station which is in close viscinity to klein scheidegg station. This is is the cable car station as well as the next stop for the train to jungfarioch from klein scheidegg. So for upward journey if you select new route and take the train instead of cable car, you will end up in kleine scheidegg where your seat reservation is not valid and reserved queue gate will not open for your ticket QR because as per the route selected, you should board jungfarioch train at eigergletscher station. So you need to join the queue of passengers without seat reservation. However, there is no seat number in this reservation. Passengers with reserved seats will board first and others will board next based on seat availability. If you miss the selected departure time, again your reservation is not valid. What a place. Kleine Scheidegg is a high altitude train station with bars, restaurant and hotels. It can be visited year round either from Grindelwald or Wengen with cog trains. It is also the departure station to the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe station with the train track going through the Eiger mountain.
