Done this twice now and would def do again - the views and experience are breath-taking. Wear decent warm cloths as it is bitter cold in winter and more than chilly in summer. A fair few steps (concrete and metal) to climb from the gondola so wear good boots. If the weather is clear then the view will allow you to see for a very long way - use the free telescopes to identify the peaks such as Mont Blanc. And def take a camera or smartphone to capture the views. Can get quite busy at times so try to plan ahead. The ski bus drops you at the bottom of the gondola (Col Du Pillon) in the car park....

Yes there's bit of a swing, the wind is a lot colder than you might expect, and you may get blasted by snow; we went end of October and it was -4 but felt A LOT colder, the views even in the snow storms are just outstanding.
Smaller kids will need hands holding as our 8 year old was lifted for a moment or two about midway.
