Felsenkirche St. Michael — Attraction in Raron

Churchyard open at all times. I visited on a Sunday afternoon. Ten to twenty minute walk from Raron station. The path uphill to the church is gorgeous. Charming cottages and lion-head fountains. Rilke's grave overlooks the whole valley and has one bench in front of it. During a sunlit day the wind howls gently and wind chimes sound. Amazing ambience, just air and light. A fitting resting place for one of the greatest poets...

Die in den Fels unterhalb der alten Kirche auf dem Hügel gehauene Kirche ist beeindruckend. Ein Besuch der alten Kirche darüber mit dem Grab von Rainer Maria Rilke lohnt sich ebenfalls und wenn sich die Pläne verwirklichen, dass die beiden Kirchen mit einem Lift verbunden werden, kommt von mir auch noch...
