This is a lovely chapel and visitor centre to to learn more about the work of Balthus, his work and his life in the Grand Chalet. The chapel was constructed in 1884 and subsequently acquired by the Free Church in 1926. Presently, it is under the ownership of the Balthus Foundation and serves as a visitor center. Upon entering, you will find a touch screen tablet on the table on the right. This offers access to a selection of audiovisual content that will be projected on the screen in the front of the chapel. Among the available selections, the most recent is "In the Studio of Balthus - Chapter One," directed by Wim Wenders. "Le Grand Chalet de Balthus" offers a behind-the-scenes tour of of this remarkable building. This film is available with English subtitles and is highly recommended. For visitors wishing to pay their respects at Balthus’ final resting place, walk down the stairs to the left of the chapel.
