Hohensax is a ruined castle in the Sennwald municipality in the Swiss canton St. Gallen. The castle was built around 1200 by the barons of Sax, and was destroyed in 1446. In 1248, the castle passed to Ulrich von Sax, founder of the Sax-Hohensax line of the noble family.

A quaint ruin with a nice spot to grill and camp out. Easily accessible by bike or by foot. Also has a nice information board if you're interested in a bit of history.

Will ja niemandem den Spass verderben - aber die obere Ruine allein hat mich nicht so beeindruckt. 5 Sterne kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Da haben andere und grössere Ruinen einen anderen Eindruck bei mir hinterlassen... Aussicht ins Tal war fast keine (im Spätsommer - alles zugewachsen) - immerhin etwas auf die imposanten Berge nach Westen. Klar: es hat eine Feuerstelle, cool zum Grillieren. 3 Sterne immerhin noch, weil vor der Ruine eine Tafel mit der interessanten Entstehungsgeschichte steht.

Great spot for campfire, from one side gorgeous mountains from another side a forest.If you cross the forest, your eyes will have a nice view of Gams, Grabs and Sax. The fallen tower give this pleace...
