Artilleriewerk Faulensee — Attraction in Spiez

Whilst on a holiday through Europe I began looking at historical WW2 things when I discovered the Artilleriewerk Faulensee. Even though they didn’t have any tours planned for the dates my wife and myself would be in Interlarken I had seen on their website that they would still run group tours.

I sent them an email and got in touch with Marco who made a real effort to organise a tour for us even though I emailed last minute.

On the day the tour was run by Adrian who was absolutely amazing, gave a fantastic tour of the bunker system. He is very knowledgeable and gave an in-depth explanation to all parts of the bunker which I truly appreciated and enjoyed.

I normally drag my wife along to these sort of things as you can understand she normally isn’t interested but today she loved it.

Everything in the bunker is well preserved and some parts still in working condition.

It is definitely worth a visit if you are stopping in the area. The location of the bunker system is easy to get to by catching the number 60 bus from interlarken west station and getting off at “Faulensee dorf” which is about 100m down the road from the entrance...

This is a very special/unique place. It's a museum that will take you back in time to relive the experience, you will be walking underground to different parts of the facility. You need to reserve the tour by email, but the staff is highly responsive . They arranged a private tour for our family , and the tour was provided by a veteran who had served at this facility. You can't beat that. Our tour guide (Adrian) volunteers his time to provide these tours. He was very patient and knowledgeable, and he answered all questions that kids had and more . He customized the tour based on the interest from the group. Highly recommend if you have the time and interest to learn historic events (ww2). This is not a scenic sightseeing tour, so it would not appeal...
