Originally built as the house of National Assembly to symbolize that Chiang Kai-Shek's regime wasn't totalitarianisms (which kind of was) and the political theory behind was based on Sun Yat-Sen's never-making-any-sense Three Principles. As a result, this is just a Chinese palace mock-up on one of Chiang's favorite mountain. After Taiwanese finally got proper right to do democracy, and all of its functions had been transferred to citizens or Legislation Yuan, this building had become just a big chunk remain on top of a volcanic valley (sounds cool in fact). Unless you're really interested in the modern political history of Taiwan, will I recommend you to pay a visit. Read moreA historic hall which is about 80 yrs old. Tickets are proced at Tw100 each and it comes with a guide who will bring you to various parts of the hall and explain the history behind each. The state of the hall is still quite good but could see lots of leaking which the guide explained was due to the construction. We were not able to visit the residential room of the president whichmay be interesting. Place feels a bit eerie given the lack of human traffic as well as the wind whistling.
