Bought tickets online for a one day east coast trip for NT400 per pax. The bus departs from a bus terminal in Taitung at about 8.30am. It is free seating for those who purchase tickets. They also allow for random passengers who sign up using their local transport card (Yu Yu card) but if seats are not available, then you will need to stand for the entire trip of about 9 hours. A volunteer guide comes on board with us and introduce the places we go to. Its ends about 5pm and brings you back to the original pickup point or you can also alight at the Taitung train station. Meals are on your own when they’re being you to a town. They don’t bring you on those pressured shop purchases like those in China tours. The places visited are delightful and popular areas like Sanxiandai, reverse water flow, tribal performances, etc. Very enjoyable indeed....

It's a beautiful place to visit. From far and near, you could capture a wide range of view of the "Central Mountain Range". Depending on the weather conditions and the time of the day, a good proportion of peak points are blended with the beautiful cloud cover that make the view even more spectacular.

Once visited, it'll have you nostalgic...

I would say this is a must-go place in the Eastcoast of Taiwan. I would say this is a must-go place in the Eastcoast of Taiwan. Took us almost two hours to walk across the bridge to the other island, walk around the island, enjoy the view, and walk across the bridge again back to the main island. The weather was super windy when we were there. Would love to go there again when the weather is nicer and sunnier.

Worth a road trip down highway 11 with incredible views of the Pacific and the mountains with many places to stop for beaches, scenery, etc. Easy to navigate and drive as the road is smooth and there is little traffic most of the time. Attractions are easily marked by km markers with good options for English speakers.

The southeast coast of Taiwan is a relaxing getaway from the busy world. Hot springs, rugged coastlines and beautiful valleys offer the traveller a way to see a slower side of Taiwan. Winter is best as the summers can be hot. Bring your bike or rent a scooter. It's all ready for you.
