Yue Dong Recreation Area located in Fengbin township in Hualien country, Taiwan. As we can see at the name of the place, the recreation area has it main focus on the Yuedong, or Moon Cave in English. And as the name of the cave, it’s because the level of the water in the cave will keep changing according to the waxing and waning of the moon. Moon Cave is a very mysterious cave, beside of being the house of hundred cave bats, there are the giant mottled eels living under the water, and people said that there are eels that have been living for thousand years that can weight more than 10kg and can attack human, making nobody dare to dive into the cave to explore. The cave opening time for tourist is from 9:30AM to 5PM with the ticket of 100NTD per person. There will be a boat for 10 to 12 people to get on and a tour guide will give out information...

NTD100 per person to ride the boat inside the cave. You can only go into a small part of the cave because some pathways are too narrow (you can see from the photos I uploaded), the boat cannot fit in. Around 10-12 people can ride on the boat. The tour guide gives information about the history of the cave, as well as the rock formations (stalactites and stalagmites). I think it’s worth it because it’s interesting to see things you never see in the outside nature. One thing, don’t wear white shorts or white pants because the boat is wet before you sit in. They clean it, but it still doesn’t dry well. I was wearing sky blue shorts and I got it stained with some dirt. Also, it’s a bit...

Really cool! Google maps says closed Tues/Wed but we went on a Tuesday and it was open. They said they are closed only Wednesdays. The front may look closed during slow season but walk up and see if the window is open! The cave is really cool, short ride but many bats to see. The guide explains only in Mandarin btw but still cool even if you don't understand him. It's only 100 taiwan dollar. They have rides around every 20-30 mins. I see some reviews saying there was a long wait but hey it's a small cave and they can only take so many people so be understanding. If you come during off season/slow weekday then there's probably no wait, we only waited around 10 minutes. We bought...
