The docents there were so nice and helpful! They even put on a mini 8-minute shadow puppet show (I’m not super sure if they have a schedule for this or how it works, I guess I just happened to be their at the right time.) They also have flyers for schedule of upcoming “real” performances/shows (for instance one I wanted to go to but didn’t end up having time for, which was going to be a performance by local...

Amazing place with fascinating exhibition. Captions are both in English and Chinese. It's a must if you are interested in traditional Taiwanese folk art. It is a great place to visit with your kids. If you are lucky you can have a chance to see there traditional puppet show. I just wonder why there was virtually no one there when I visited this...

It's a unique museum showing the dying art of shahow puppetry. Quite easy to get to, with carpark and is small enough to cover everything within an hour. Very interesting and nice display of the puppets as well as informative short films of actual shows and...

The docents there were so nice and helpful! Interesting exhibit about shadow puppetry. No entrance fee required. The lady at the front counter told me that only on Saturdays are floors 2 and 3 open, because there will be performances then. Other days only the first and fourth floors are open to the public.

#高雄#岡山#高雄市皮影戲館 位於高雄市岡山區文化中心內，隸屬於高雄市立歷史博物館，是全台唯一的皮影戲館，致力於保存及推廣皮影戲這項傳統藝術，讓舊雨新知能好好認識或回味這項傳統藝術。 . 皮影戲自三百多年前由大陸潮州傳入南台灣之後，高雄地區便成為台灣皮影戲的重要根據地，現全國僅存的傳統皮影戲劇團皆落居於岡山、燕巢一帶的北高雄，為珍貴的無形文化資產。惟1970年代初，皮影戲與其他傳統戲曲一樣，在電視台與彩色電影興起之後，改變人們娛樂的方式，流失大量的觀眾，皮影藝術逐漸式微，連帶的許多老劇團也相繼凋零，為延續及推廣這項傳統藝術，皮影戲館於民國83年3月13日正式開館營運至今。 . 皮影戲館在每個月第二個禮拜日都會有固定的皮偶戲團在此演出，讓參觀民眾能近距離欣賞這精彩、絢麗的光影戲，展覽部分除有許多實體文物外，另有許多互動式展示區及體驗區，讓人在了解皮影戲的過程不至於單調乏味，甚至有一獨立空間搭設早期的牛車戲台，民眾能在這裡享受最真實的古早味演出，親子同遊也不會無聊，如前往岡山旅遊不妨來走走。
