Erziping Recreation Area — Attraction in New Taipei

The 1.8km 40 minutes easy trail is very popular. I arrived the tourist station on Tuesday noon time. The parking lot is full. This trail is very shady with nice paved trail leads to a beautiful recreation center with lotus pond and open meadow view. Even in scorching 37c hot day the trail is still a pleasant walk. Once you reach the beautiful recreation center, you can turn back parking lot and bus station or you can take some challenges to hike to 面天山 which first drops about 40 meters of elevation and then a steep climb for 200 meters. A good challenge for me. On the top of 面天山，you get a gorgeous 200 degree view of Taipei from the top. There is a microwave reflection station on the top. At this time, if you still have energy, you can continue take easy hike to 向天山，向天池。if you don't want to turn back, then continue on to a steep long downhill hike dropping 550 meters in elevation to 興福寮。Then walk 3 minutes to a small Temple and wait for free Tamsui city bus back to Tamsui MRT station. The free bus F 101 (Google it) is roughly one hour apart with last bus around 22:00 so you don't need to worry about stuck...

Went here for a field trip for a symposium I attended at the National Taiwan University. It was a beautiful day to stroll in the park. Great for easy hiking. We tried to hike until the entrance to the crater but didn't have much time. The National park boasts of forest views and diverse wildlife. It also has a ramp installed for differently abled guests, which I torally loved! Will go back with my kids if I return to Taiwan for a trip with the family. Definitely...
