Beautiful scenery but please think carefully about how you get there! Main public bus is S15 but but note that the bus comes approx every 20 minutes and it's a tiny bus (necessary due to the winding routes upwards). We waited for approx 40 minutes for the buses and figured we won't be able to get in until the 3rd bus has gone off. We decided to take an Uber up the mountain instead, approx 15 USD/20 SGD. There's another bus 1717 from what I've read but it wasn't available... Anyway to get back down the mountain via public transport, you can take 108 to Yangmingshan and change, or S15 (not advisable due to the queue that may start 1 hour prior). Do note the journey down on the bus is also extremely windy, it'll be a bicep and core...

It was such a nice hike/walk. We started at Juan Si waterfall instead of the visitor center so that we will hike up to the top instead of just doing a small loop.

It’s the perfect place for a picnic, rmb to bring sandwiches and drinks up as there is only 1 convenience store that sells drinks and snacks.

There are 2 buses that goes back to Taipei. S15 gets you back to Jian Tan station which is where Shilin Night Market is, this bus will have a long queue and supposedly comes at a 20 mins frequency. My partner and I decided to take the other bus that was available and stopped at a building to take another bus to Bei Tou MRT which worked out better for us as we prefer to take the MRT which had a...

Heard a couple of foreigners doubted whether dogs are allowed here. I think they didn’t Google cos even Google maps indicates “dogs are allowed”. I think they didn’t read signage or misinterpret the signage. It says “Leash and Clean Up After Your Pet” and “Don’t Feed Stray Dogs”. Still I wish people could hold their judgement on things before they put at least some effort to understand it.

By the way, they spoke English so loud that anyone within 30 meters can hear them. I suppose it is a quiet place and just wish they can keep it down a bit🤫 Or they just didn’t know that they are the only ones who understand just one language...

Very pleasant stone trail with some reasonable uphill sections. I have only visited on rainy days but the view is still quite nice. I went on a Friday afternoon and was the only person on the trail and encountered some local wild dogs. They barked and snarled but didn't follow me too far, thankfully! Just be careful. Parking was plentiful on a rainy weekday but on weekends, even if rainy, you'll have to park elsewhere and take the round robin bus. I don't recommend walking the road to the trail if you can't park at the grassland parking lot. Too long and too many blind turns.
