My husband and I were recommended Eastern Sun by a friend and from the beginning, everything was handled smoothly by them. We were given the itinerary, options for accommodations as well as the cost and we just needed to decide our lodging choice.

On the day of the tour, we were warmly greeted at the airport and was introduced to our driver/guide, Mecky and our check, Katunzi, that will be with us for the week. Off we went!

My highlights of the trip were seeing the Black rhino that Mecky spotted from super far away as well as Katunzi’s food.

Upon reaching Ngorongoro Crater, Mecky spotted a black rhino that no other tour guide seemed to have spotted, my guess is because it was super far away and it looked like a rock. Mecky confirmed it with the binoculars before letting us have a look as well. We were so impressed with him being able to tell just from his naked eye. He then told us it’s because he is really experienced and he has developed exceptional skills to identifying these animals.

I actually started crying after seeing the rhino because it is my dream to come to the African safari to see one of the most endangered animals on the planet. Mecky saw me crying and realised that I LOVEEEE animals and he then said he will do everything he can to find as many animals as possible and for me to see them up close. And he did!

We always looked forward to mealtimes bc Katunzi’s food is 💯 specifically the soups and pasta. He would also ask us what we want to eat and he will cook it for us. We usually don’t have any preference so we told him to surprise us and his food is always good.

Overall, we were really well taken care of and grateful that we did not need to do anything at all other than enjoy the trip. From building the tent to what food we are going to eat it, we did not need to worry at all.

I would give 10 stars if I could! I am definitely coming back and look forward to another tour with Eastern Sun, specifically Mecky and Katunzi!

Just returned from an amazing safari in Tanzania thanks to Eastern Sun Tours! From the planning stage, the team led by Mercy S. Laizer showed remarkable availability and professionalism. Our discussions about creating the programme were smooth, with tailor-made suggestions perfectly suited to our expectations. All our requests for changes were accepted with flexibility and expertise.

The safari itself was absolutely perfect thanks to their excellent choice of guide. His exceptional knowledge allowed us to see almost all the wildlife present across the 3 parks we visited, sometimes very close up! The wonderful personal relationship we built with him during the trip was a key factor in making it such a success.

A particular highlight was our encounter with the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in the world. The meeting and exchange with the tribe had been very well prepared, and the guide chosen by the agency was extremely respectful. We were able to have genuine human interaction with tribe members and discover their way of life in complete simplicity. This cultural experience was truly unforgettable.

The accommodations, carefully selected, added real comfort at every stage.

The airport transfers were organised flawlessly, without any stress whatsoever. Daily contact throughout the stay constantly reassured us. Even the payment terms (50% before departure, balance on the first day) made organising everything much easier.
