The view from the village is generally very good, offering panoramic vistas of Chiang Mai and the surrounding mountains. However, visibility can be affected by smoke and haze, especially during the dry season when agricultural burning and forest fires are more common.

The dry season in northern Thailand typically occurs from late February to April. During this time, smoke and haze from agricultural burning and forest fires can reduce visibility and affect air quality in the region, including at Doi Pui Viewpoint.

If you're concerned about smoke and haze affecting your visit, it's best to check the air quality and weather conditions before heading to the viewpoint. Generally, the months outside of the dry season, such as November to February, tend to have clearer skies and...

We were a family group of five. Upon arriving in our songtao ( it's a pickup with the covered bed that has two bench seats in the back, very reasonable transportation, inexpensive for larger groups) we were approached by a little girl, this is common practice for them to lead you around the village, even at an age that don't speak English, and we hired her for an undisclosed amount ( I gave her a total of 140 Baht and told her to share it with her younger sister, who was very disappointed that she didn't have a job the same as her older sister). She led us around the first shop was her grandmother's shop with clothing, then we are led to her mother's shop which had nice trinkets of some sort I don't remember what they were, then she let us back to the almost very top of the village and there was a place where they will rent you costumes of their clothing and you can hire them to take pictures of you I'd rather inexpensive rate. After this we decided to end our trip because the older people with us were tired of walking uphill and we went downhill back to the opening of the village, stopping along the way to buy some juice and jewelry and wine and.. you name it they sell it. Overall is a normal experience of any tourist site in thailand. The people were all genuinely happy to see us, not just for the money, but it's nice to have people travel through if you were working the tourist industry. No price gouging that I could detect and I've lived in Thailand for 10 years. Rather decent quality for everything a very good selection of Thai silk. There were many Native costume shops where you could buy their clothing. I have to tell you I'm just sensitive towards the cultural appropriation thing. However my wife gets away with wearing Northern Thailand clothing and it looks really cute on her, of course, because she's Thai person. If you've not been to among Village definitely worth the trip it cost me, between rather limited purchases and the cost of the transportation, about $70 for a group of five. Yeah, sorry, no pictures from this trip, they're...

Maybe it has become a tourist stop with mostly booths selling the same items, but the drive alone is worth taking so you are already in the plus and aren't even there yet. Then there are very interesting sights and little adventures to go on such as the little waterfall village. Don't expect much from the waterfall park and you'll enjoy it, the stroll through flower fields on the way to the small waterfall with several snack stands and photo ops everyone. Try the black sticky rice, she cuts it into pieces with scissors and adds condensed milk on top for a seriously rich, chewy and sweet treat. On the way here there are many interesting places to stop coming up the mountain. There are scenic overlooks to pull off and see, Temple grounds and waterfalls to explore. There are more than you can or would want to do in one day so do some homework and pick a few that you are most interested in. Stop along the way and don't plan any stops on the way home. Just enjoy the ride basically coasting down the mountain to Chiang Mai (especially on a scooter). A bit of caution if you are driving yourself... At the top the road narrows to one lane it's exactly the width of one car. If you are on a scooter no problem you'll be at the top in half the time. If you are in a car driving yourself, know that you will need to honk before most turns to let any possible cars coming know you are there. If you meet a car, one will have to pullover somewhere to let the other pass in many areas. It's all relatively easy and doable but if you are the nervous type, you'll definitely be puckered...

100% recommend making your way here. Once you get here, there are a few things you can do all walking distance: 1) visit the village itself 2) try local food and support villagers or buy souvenirs from them. 3) visit the waterfall park and garden. There is 10 baht per person entrance fee for waterfall. 4) visit one of the coffee shops, we went to two of them: a) Hmong Doi Pui Family Coffee (MUST VISIT!) and b) Hmong Café. "Hmong" means "people" "Doi" means "mountain" "Pui" is name of the mountain range. I strongly urge you to visit Hmong Doi Pui village it's a fantastic local experience. You will absolutely enjoy it and will not regret the decision. It is worth the money and distance. You can get to Doi Pui village either directly from Chiang mai by Grab (500 baht one-way) or Grab Roddaeng (340 baht one-way for the entire red car to yourself and your travel companions, so you can split cost) or you can get to the village from Doi Suthep temple (cost is supposed to be 60 baht for shared cars, but since very few people go up, red cars don't fill up and drivers try to ask for more. We negotiated for 75 baht each to go up to the village from Doi Suthep temple. On your way back down, there are even fewer red cards and drivers. It was hard to find Grab. So we managed to pair up with 4 other travellers and the 6 of us negotiated and each paid 70 baht from village back to Doi Suthep temple (and from there we took a separate Grab Roddaeng to Chiang mai).

This village is home to the White Hmong community and was founded in 1951. It sits approximately 1,300 meters above sea level, offering visitors a unique cultural and natural experience [1][2]. Highlights and Attractions: Cultural Experience: Visitors can explore traditional Hmong houses, learn about their customs, and observe their way of life. The village features a small museum that provides insights into Hmong history and culture. Market and Crafts: The village market is a vibrant place where locals sell traditional Hmong handicrafts, textiles, and various souvenirs. It's an excellent opportunity to buy unique items directly from artisans. Scenic Views and Gardens: Doi Pui is known for its impressive gardens, including a beautiful flower garden that showcases the region's flora. The scenic views of the surrounding mountains make for a picturesque setting [4]. Accessibility: Reaching the village involves a 30-minute drive through a forested area on a narrow road. While the drive can be challenging due to low clouds and slippery conditions, it adds to the adventure of visiting this remote location. Overall, Doi Pui Hmong Village provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the Hmong people, set against the backdrop of stunning natural beauty.
