If you are going to visit the Hmong village and gardens, you will want to stop at Khao Soi Loong Surin for a bowl of meaty khoa soi. We ordered both the beef and chicken. The beef was 80baht per bowl and the chicken was 60baht. The broth was thick and fatty, not too sweet. It gets a 4/5 star rating in our book because we prefer a less acidic taste in khao soi - that being said, we don't normally eat a lot of red meat, so we could be totally off on what to expect with the beef khao soi. It was yummy, never the less. Just not the top choice of our trip. And if you like spicy, then you'll love the fresh kimchi that they make. The purple onions added a nice crunch to the soup. The couple running the shop are very friendly and provide great service and the view is great. We used google maps to find the restaurant, but rest assured that you won't need it, because as soon as you get close you will smell the delicious scent...

We didn’t try the chicken one because we love beef and the beef is so soft and tender. The chili paste on the table is not hot. I mean it might be hot but since it’s chili/salt. If I put until it’s hot enough for my tastebud (I can eat hot food but I am not at that crazy for spicy food level), it is going to be too salty.
The pickle on the other hand is really good. I don’t understand why he needs to utilize the kimchi name. He pickles the mustard green pickle. It is definitely not a Yui kimchi. It has its own merit and does not need to be called a kimchi.
I think he is proud of his food.. (his pickled pickles) and he feels like he wants to give it a name… at least give it some unique name by yourself . Don’t call it ‘a typical kimchi’. I really hate kimchi…...
Read moreThe real hidden jem for Khao Soi place in Chiang Mai. This place is one of the best for Khao Soi Neur (stewed beef),The restaurant is not that far from the main entrance to Hmong village, this place also came with the great view of moutains. Lung Surin Khao Soi Neur is amazingly good and delicious, rich in aroma and very flavorful. The broth is intense in spice, broth is creamy, thick and not to oily. You can feel the flavor of the curry and spicyness inside the borth. Noodle is also well-cooked, soft and tender. The crispy noodle is delicious, crispy and having flavor in it. The Khao Soi Gai (chicken) is not that good, even the owner is not recommend. The homemade vegetable prickle with spicyness is amazing, very delicious and flavorful, this prickle is not similar with the typical Khao Soi place will offer you. This place is worth driving beyond Doi Suthep to Doi Pui to trying this bowl...
