Bo-Sang Handicrafts Centre — Attraction in Chiang Mai Province

Bosang umbrellas are a name we’ve been familiar with for a long time, often seen as decorations in shops and restaurants across Thailand. However, their origin is actually here in Bosang.

I’ve heard about this place since I was young, and honestly, it sounded like a boring spot to visit. But when I finally got a chance to go, I found it surprisingly cool. You can watch aunties and uncles making umbrellas and other handicrafts, which is really fascinating.

The visit usually starts with walking through shops and stalls, and then you’ll find the factory at the end, where the actual crafting happens. I recommend starting with the factory part so you can understand how everything is made before...

This particular place was quite average. They have a big space but their merchandise is not maintained well which doesn't make it look attractive. After my not so good experience I started walking on the streets and I saw some good shops on the street. Particularly the shops around which is called as the Bo Sang handicraft village is really good. The shops at the entrance itself are good..Reasonably priced and decent collection of traditional outfits, ponchos and umbrellas. However it's very hot and sunny so please carry your caps or...

Went on a school field trip with my kindergarten class. The owners were lovely with the kids. Very patient and showed them how to paint some things, which surprisingly came out (for the most part) really well. The kids loved it and they were extremely quiet and focused for the entire time, so it was nice for the teachers as well... Would definitely recommend to anyone, especially families with young children...
