The little time that was spent here was worth the visit. It isn’t earth shattering or massively exciting, however it is a local authentic place that makes Thai gifts and employs local people. You are able to walk around and see the umbrellas ☂ been made at every stage of their production. They are all made from local resources and the gifts made are cheap. There are an array of differing things you can buy but of course predominantly umbrellas of all sizes and colours. There are umbrellas you can stand in ornaments, for show around houses, cafes and hotels and for real use. There is a very large gift shop here so if you like to shop for local gifts or things to take back from vacation then this place is useful also for that. You will see a number of local people sat making all the gifts on display which is a nice touch. There are also a number of painters in one part of the centre. They can paint on items for you such as telephones, wallets bags and shoes. They are all hand painted and cost from around 50 to 100 Baht. A few pound, Euros or dollars. It is free entry here because it is not a tour but an authentic business that makes and then sells its products. I personally like anywhere that supports local business and those in the community to live and experience a...
Read moreMy partner and I recently visited this unique umbrella-making centre and were thoroughly impressed by the experience. Our knowledgeable guide took us through each step of the intricate process, from selecting the finest materials to the meticulous hand-stitching and painting. It was fascinating to see the skilled artisans at work, creating these beautiful umbrellas with such care and attention to detail. We gained a newfound appreciation for the time and effort that goes into making a single umbrella. After the tour, we explored the on-site shop, which boasts an impressive variety of handmade umbrellas in a range of styles and colors. From classic black and white designs to vibrant, patterned umbrellas, there was something to suit every taste. While we didn't have the chance to participate in the umbrella painting activity, it looked like a fun and creative experience for those interested in trying their hand at umbrella design. Overall, our visit to the umbrella-making centre was a delightful and...
Read moreWe had a wonderful time visiting the Umbrella Making Center. They have so many functional and beautiful items for sale. If we are not backpacking, I would have bought so many stuff from here.
They have, of course, the paper umbrellas which comes in different sizes and colors. They also have notebooks made from raw paper, water bottles, keychains, tshirts, magnets, canvas bags, items made of wood (chopping board, ladles, spoon/fork, lanterns, wallets etc.
You can buy the plain items and have them handpainted at the back. You can also pay for handpainting your items. We saw tourists handpainting camera bags, sunglasses cases, pants/denims etc.
There's also a cafe by the main door. They serve beverages and snacks. We had some...
