Wat Phra That Doi Kham — Attraction in Chiang Mai Province

I visited Wat Doi Kham in Chiang Mai today (Saturday), and it was a lovely experience overall. The temple is perched on a small mountain and offers beautiful views, especially from the area near the giant seated Buddha, which is truly impressive.

Since it’s the weekend, the temple was quite crowded, with many people coming to pray and make merit. The weather was also very hot, so I recommend bringing a small portable fan, a hat, or plenty of water to stay cool.

One convenient aspect is that you can easily get there and back using Grab. I had no trouble calling a Grab for both the trip to the temple and the return trip, which made the visit hassle-free even without a personal vehicle.

I also noticed that the temple is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible, which is great for families with young children or elderly visitors. The pathways are fairly smooth, and there are ramps in many areas.

Despite the crowds and heat, I found the visit peaceful and spiritually uplifting. It’s a great spot to experience local culture and take in panoramic views of Chiang Mai. If you’re planning to visit on a weekend, I suggest going early in the day to avoid the peak...

We went on a Sunday and there's so many people. Unlike the other temples, most of the visitors here were locals. The enormous statue of the Buddha by the entry point is the main highlight. We could see it from the road. It was also interesting to pass by the Chiang Mai university campus to get to the temple.

From the parking lot, we already smelled flowers and incense. When we walked by the prayer area, there was a hill of flower offerings. We're glad we decided to come out on a Sunday and witness this wonderful...
