Chiang Rai River Beach — Attraction in Chiang Rai Province

Major tourist trap! This will read like a restaurant review, because a visit here essentially is a visit to one of the restaurants.

All of the best places to sit are taken up by restaurants encroaching on the river bank. We went well before lunch when no one else was there, but they were very pushy for us to order a lot of food. Even though we already explained that we intended to spend some time there and continue ordering, they insisted on us ordering more and more. On the menu was a note that there is a "sitting fee" of 100 baht. We mistakenly thought that if we order a decent amount of food, there would be no charge for sitting.

Eventually, we had ordered about 400 baht worth of food. Apparently that wasn't good enough for the greedy owners of this place, who not only tacked on the sitting fee, but also charged us for food that we NEVER ORDERED, causing the bill to more than double. Water was 50 baht. Papaya Salad was some of the worst...

This place looks great and I would like to rate it better but my experience was not great.

No clear indicators of where to sit or go and it seems parts of the bamboo sitting area over the river are controlled by various eateries which can alter what is available to you. Whats on offer is not shown until you sit. Food quality.. well im not sure what I was served, but it was nothing I had seen anywhere else in Thailand and for me was not edible, It resembled a carcass in broth. “ดอกไม้ในสายฝน เชียงรายดอกไม้งาม” (Chiangrai Floral & Fog Fest) ภายใต้โครงการส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวเชิงศิลปวัฒนธรรม ประเพณีและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นนครเชียงราย ณ สวนสาธารณะหาดนครเชียงราย อำเภอเมืองเชียงราย จังหวัดเชียงราย โดยมีคนให้ความสนใจทั้งคนในพื้นที่และจังหวัดใกล้เคียง

ในโอกาสนี้หน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชน ได้ร่วมมือกันจัดงาน “ดอกไม้ในสายฝน” ครั้งนี้ ซึ่งมีเป้าหมายในการกระตุ้นการท่องเที่ยวและส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวของประเทศไทย ภายใต้แนวคิด “สุขทันที ที่เที่ยวไทย” เพื่อเพิ่มจำนวนนักท่องเที่ยวทั้งในและนอกประเทศ

ทางผู้จัดงานได้เน้นย้ำถึงความสำคัญของการทำงานร่วมกันระหว่างหน่วยงานต่างๆ ทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชน เพื่อส่งเสริมแนวคิดและกิจกรรมที่สะท้อนถึงอัตลักษณ์ของจังหวัดเชียงราย โดยเน้นการนำเสนอประสบการณ์ที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์และน่าประทับใจให้กับนักท่องเที่ยว เช่น การลิ้มลองรสชาติอาหารท้องถิ่นที่หายาก การเยี่ยมชมสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวที่มีความสวยงาม งานศิลปะและหัตถกรรมที่มีฝีมือ การแต่งกายพื้นเมืองที่มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัว และการสัมผัสวัฒนธรรมประเพณีชนเผ่าชาติพันธุ์ที่หลากหลายในจังหวัดเชียงราย

“สิ่งเหล่านี้นับเป็นซอฟต์พาวเวอร์ที่สามารถดึงดูดนักท่องเที่ยวจากทั่วโลกมาเยือนเชียงราย ซึ่งจะนำไปสู่การสร้างรายได้และเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียนในแต่ละจังหวัดและชุมชนตามเป้าหมายของรัฐบาล” นายเสริมศักดิ์กล่าว
