It is sad to see what is happening to this course. Unfortunately it has turned in to a complete ripoff - especially for non residents. I was always fond of Loch Palm and have been coming here since 2010. I have played mainly Laguna, Aquella, Blue Canyon and Red Mountain (unfortunately also on a downward spiral) in recent years but went the other day.
The problem is price versus quality. Even when booking through an agent your are charged a premium for a mediocre product. Greens are so inconsistent and as most of the course not well maintained. A lot of GUR. Fairways are struggling. That it hasn’t been rerated with a new CR and slope since changing layout tells you all. Apparently they don’t care about the product since there still must be enough tourists to exploit.
Unfortunately I will never come back - unless price or quality changes.
Loch Palms reminds me of older and worn country clubs around Bangkok. But there you pay 1000-1500 baht for a round. Which is fine. It’s 4800 at Loch Palm at the door (2800 for residents including cart). You can get 3300 walking through an agent before tip. But in its current state it’s one to avoid. Play your expensive rounds on Phuket elsewhere - or just start exploring golf elsewhere in this wonderful country. Prices are getting out of hand and as always thinking...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were staying at their peaceful hotel when offered the opportunity to play golf at a discounted price. Excited, I asked if my girlfriend could tag along and not play, the response was she must pay a greefee, for just tagging along. I make a tree time little disheartened for 7 am. The next morning, i show up at 6:25 and walk in to an empty proshop. Someone comes in after a few minutes, and they ask me if I am so and so from this room, "Yes". I approach the counter to pay my fee and ask if I could simply get a cart, club rentals, and a bucket of balls. Their reply was that I had to hire a caddy. They then began to ask me why golf balls for the range to which I replied "I need to warm up". And if that wasn't ridiculous enough, they then looked down my shoes and straight up said it would be too unsafe to play with those. In my 27 years playing golf around the world,...
Read moreSadly it´s runned by MBK - you can see in many points that they are forcing maximum profit, which is reducing the quality. Building beautyful, but overpriced villas all around the area looks like the main target - This naturally leads to things being neglected elsewhere... the fairways are okay, but the 18 greens have 18 different speeds, and they're certainly not investing in the highest quality. However, the staff at the club are very attentive, friendly, and courteous. For me, it's still one of the best and most beautiful courses in Phuket - the scenery is wonderful, and I really enjoy playing here. I wish the management here would pay more attention to the well-being of their staff and ensure that the course is in...
