THIS FLOATING MARKET BOAT TOUR IS SCAM. The 1500 BAHT per person boat tour was a huge scam. AVOID THE LONG BOATS WITH COLOURFUL ROOFS. GO THERE BY LAND IF YOU STILL WANT TO SEE THIS GHOST TOWN OF A MARKET ON WEEKDAYS. PLEASE DO NOT GO ON ANY BOAT TOURS TO THIS MARKET.

I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience with the floating market boat tour. In all honesty, it turned out to be nothing more than a scam. I strongly advise against taking the long boats with colorful roofs. If you still wish to see this ghost town of a market, opt for the land route on weekdays. I urge you not to participate in any boat tours to this market. Take a moment to notice how all the positive reviews here are suspiciously empty - it's quite evident that this unscrupulous company is behind them. I implore you to read all the 1-star reviews or simply avoid any tours leading to this lifeless market altogether.

Allow me to provide some context. During our visit to The Grand Palace, we decided to watch the masked dance show that was included in the ticket. Outside the theater, we encountered numerous tuktuk drivers and so-called "tour guides" from Arun Pho who were involved in this floating boat tour racket.

After the show, we intended to return to Wat Pho to explore the temple. Unfortunately, we were deceived by an individual claiming to be a "government tour guide." He persistently claimed that his office was conveniently located across the street. I strongly caution you to avoid falling for the promises of any tuktuk drivers who mention a floating market. Likewise, steer clear of the "government tour guide" at Wat Pho. That's where we fell victim to this scam. We paid a staggering 1500 BAHT per person for this tour, and it was an utter waste of money.

The man initially claimed the tour would cost 2500 BAHT per person. However, he cunningly assured us that the tuktuk driver would consider us Thai or repeat visitors, thus granting us the Thai price. This, my friends, is the crux of the scam. Their sole aim is to lure you onto a boat that takes you to a non-operational floating market, all for the exorbitant price of 1500 BAHT per person. Our tour began at 3:45 pm and concluded by 5:30 pm. We visited the non-operational floating market, which was nothing short of a comical experience. It consisted of just one open cafe/restaurant and a handful of food stalls outside. Frankly, it resembled a ghost town with minimal activity. I can't help but laugh at how abysmal this tour was.

If you still insist on visiting this non-operational floating market, I urge you to do so by land, using a taxi, Grab, or bus. However, I must reiterate my plea to avoid this boat tour entirely. Just say no to anyone attempting to sell you a floating market tour on weekdays. This place can no longer be considered a legitimate floating market; it only comes to life on weekends. Alternatively, I recommend visiting Khlong Lat Mayom (the best option) or Taling Chan.

Learn from my regrettable experience and avoid this deceptive boat tour at all costs. Spare yourself the disappointment and choose an alternative that offers an authentic and...

Last week, I had the opportunity to explore one of Bangkok’s renowned floating markets, an experience that was as delightful as it was unique. Contrary to popular belief, the market’s liveliness peaks after 1 PM, making it an ideal afternoon adventure.

The first thing that struck me was the sheer amount of walking involved. Strolling along the waterways, I was immersed in a lively, bustling atmosphere that is quintessentially Thai. But the highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the boat ride. For just 400 Thai Baht, I embarked on a 50 km journey that offered a mesmerizing view of the markets flanking both sides of the waterway. It’s a perspective of the market that is both unique and captivating, allowing visitors to truly appreciate the vibrancy and activity from an on-water vantage point.

A culinary delight not to be missed is the coconut pancake. Prepared fresh right before your eyes, it’s a treat that tantalizes the taste buds. The abundance of fresh fruits available throughout the market is a testament to Thailand’s rich produce.

Another fascinating aspect was the wide array of seafood on display. It’s not every day you see such a variety of sea creatures, all available for consumption. This unique view adds an exotic touch to the overall experience.

Bargaining is part of the experience in many stalls, adding a playful element to shopping. But what really made the experience enjoyable were the friendly vendors. Their warmth and hospitality are a true reflection of Thai culture, making you feel welcome and appreciated.

In summary, the floating market is a vibrant and lively destination that offers a unique glimpse into Thai culture and cuisine. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the local lifestyle and indulge in some delicious food and enjoyable shopping. Don’t miss the boat ride - it’s an...

Khlong Bang Luang Market is a charming and peaceful spot away from the busy streets of Bangkok. Located along a quiet canal, this market offers a relaxing atmosphere with a mix of local restaurants, small art galleries, and traditional Thai vibes. It’s a great place to spend a few hours exploring, eating, and enjoying art.

Food & Restaurants The market has several small restaurants and food stalls serving delicious Thai dishes. You can try local favorites like boat noodles, grilled seafood, and sweet coconut desserts. The prices are reasonable, and the food is fresh and tasty. Sitting by the canal while eating makes the experience even better.

Art & Culture One of the highlights of Khlong Bang Luang is the small artist galleries and workshops. You can see local artists painting, making pottery, or displaying their work. Some shops even let you try making your own art. The vibe is creative and welcoming, perfect for art lovers.

Relaxing Atmosphere Unlike crowded tourist markets, Khlong Bang Luang is quiet and laid-back. You can take a short boat ride along the canal, walk around the wooden houses, or just sit and enjoy the view. It feels like stepping back into old Bangkok.

Google Map Tips

Location: Easy to find on Google Maps, but it’s in a local neighborhood, so taxis or motorbikes are best.

Best Time to Visit: Weekends are livelier, but weekdays are more peaceful.

Nearby Attractions: Close to Wat Paknam and other local temples.

Final Thoughts Khlong Bang Luang Market is a lovely place for a relaxed afternoon. Good food, interesting art, and a calm canal setting make it a hidden gem. If you want to escape the city noise and experience local culture, this market is worth a visit!

A peaceful and artistic...

Visiting a floating market in Bangkok is like stepping into a living postcard—vibrant, colorful, and humming with life. Whether you choose the bustling Damnoen Saduak, the charming Amphawa, or the more tranquil Taling Chan, each offers a unique peek into Thailand’s riverside culture, where commerce and community float side by side—literally. The atmosphere is pure enchantment: long-tail boats gliding through narrow canals, laden with tropical fruits, aromatic noodles, sizzling seafood, and flowers so fresh they still glisten with morning dew. Vendors greet you with warm smiles, their boats doubling as tiny kitchens or floating fruit stands, offering not just a transaction, but an experience. What makes these markets so memorable isn’t just the shopping—it’s the symphony of scents, sounds, and colors. The gentle splash of water, the sizzle of skewers on open flames, the lilting Thai voices calling out today’s special—it’s sensory theatre at its finest. And if you find yourself sipping fresh coconut water while watching the sun shimmer on the water’s surface, don’t be surprised if time seems to slow down. It’s not just a market—it’s a dance between tradition and daily life, gracefully afloat. Tip: Go early to avoid the crowds and enjoy the serene beauty before the tourist rush. Bring your camera, your appetite, and a sense of wonder. You’re in for something truly special.

I found a lot of polarized info online. October 16, 2024. So here’s the deal, this is a nice place to go and relax. There’s a lot of foods available (not halal but didn’t really look, they have vegetarian options). Lots of cafes. Some DIY activities like painting and bracelet making. Main reason for coming was the boat ride / floating market. They have rides for 30-45 min for 300 thb per person. There were 4 of us, we took a 30 min boat and easily bargained it for 1k thb total. It was a bit steep for what it was but if you wanted a nice relaxing private boat ride near Bangkok, this was good. Not a lot of floating boat stores, there was just one selling souvenirs and canned drinks on our ride- it may be more bustling on the weekend. Would have been nice to get a boat seller offering some desserts (like the bigger more touristy floating market just outside of BKK). They give you a photo opportunity from the boat near a Big Buddha statue/ model, but it is currently undergoing reconstruction or renovation. We went on Wednesday at 4pm. We took a grab from Sukhumvit area for around 200 thb. Easily got a grab from Khlong Bang Luang for 200 thb back to city center. So best not to pre-hire a car / taxi or even keep it waiting for you.

Tucked between Wat Khuhasawan Worawihan and Wat Kamphaeng Bangchak, Klong Buang Luang is a cozy floating market full of charm. It’s only about 200 meters long, perfect for a laid-back stroll without the heat-induced exhaustion. You’ll find retro-style shops, crafts, and modest food stalls, some air-conditioned, some open-air. While the chicken satay was disappointing, prices are fair, and the local atmosphere makes up for the mediocre bites. Driving in? Good luck. Parking is temple-only. Wat Khuhasawan offers a larger lot but fills fast, while Wat Kamphaeng’s parking is improvisational at best. The access road is tight, theoretically one-way but used as two-way. So brace for a tense drive. For visitors, taxis are your best bet. For kids (and crafty adults), there are activities like canvas painting and DIY jewelry. Boat tours leave from Wat Khuhasawan and vary in price for locals versus tourists. If you speak Thai or blend in, you might score a local rate. Weekends are lively and packed. Weekdays are quiet and serene. Overall, it’s a hidden, budget-friendly escape not far from the city, ideal for a couple hours of exploring, shopping, and people-watching.
