I really like the uniqueness of the Roi Et Tower something I definitely will never forget in a while.
The lower floor has a gift shop and the walls describe the history of Roi Et. This is where you can find the lift to get to the top floors. Pay 50 baht to use the elevator to go up to the 30th floor. The rest of the floors up are accessible by stairs and you will have to walk down until the 29th for the lift going down.
The elevator goes straight to 30th floor where you can get a 360 view of the city. There are also markings to show highlights of specific places. This floor has air conditioning and a great relief from the heat.
The next two floors are open air viewpoints and breathe in the fresh air. The 31st floor ha the glass walk where you will need to wear the rubber slippers found on the side before stepping food into the glass walk.
The top floor is accessible by stairs where they have a buddha statue/ place of silence and worship (which is common in towers in Thailand)
Roi Et actually means 101 (numerical) and it was amazing to see how that design was incorporated in the pedestrian crossing and sidewalk. You can appreciate it from the top even more.
They also offer zipline from the top floor and down to the park.
Best time to go: Towards sunset to get the morning and night view...

At first, I thought it’s just another tourist trap, but there’s quite a lot good information about how the tower reflects the local bamboo instrument called ‘WOT’ how the wot is made, used and what it means for local culture. There are several levels up on the tower with airconditioned viewing sections, open air sections, a sacred mini temple on the top, a café, a souvenir shop, etc. The views of Roi Et and surrounding areas are good, especially down to the park. Roi Et is in rural Isaan; hence you will be seeing mostly green fields, and on a clear day some hills in the background. Entrance is only 50B for Thai and foreigners (no obnoxious dual pricing). If you are 60 or older you will get a 10B discount and if you are above 70years the...
Read moreThis is a very enchanting site in the Eastern region. It really makes the area stand out from other towns making it modern and attractive. The town has taken a lot of pride in designing and building this tower over a few decades and several plans. It is all well explained including the rationale for the shape of the tower there are a number of floors to visit including cafes restaurants and a Buddhist temple. The views are very nice on a clear day there is a skyview platform for the braver souls don't look down if you like me. There is a surrounding park and you can go for walks and there are many lovely cafes and restaurants on the promenade around the park and lake area nighttime visit recommended there are safe...
