Chalathat Beach — Attraction in Songkhla Province

We were unfortunate. The mermaid statue at Chalatat Beach was bombed a couple of weeks before we arrive. The perimeter surrounding the statue was off limit to tourists due to repair works. The weather was rather hot. The beach which stretch few miles away were rather clean. The Thais really take good care of their beaches. The public toilets were well managed unlike Indonesia or Malaysia. Don't feel insulted coz thats are facts! The Thais are tourist friendly. All kind of local delicacies were available for those who likes to try. Most of the eating house along the beaches serves verities of local cusine esp seafoods. Tastes are good and price reasonable. From my experience, driving from Padang Besar Malaysia to Phuket or Songkhla is much easier when assisted by...

Just a beautiful place to be. Accessable from the street, where you can park your car and walk around. The sea is super hot, the beach is clean, very nice to walk. Plenty of trees give you shadow or you can go close to the sea and enjoy the burning feeling from hot white sand. Across the street are restaurants and coffee stores, and also some tents with food and small items. Ideal place to relax. You have everything you need, if you forgot bring your drink or if you start be hungry....

a long stretch of clean white sand public beach facing the South China Sea. along the beach is a street with the same name - Chalatat Road with a naval base at the southern end and a hotel at the northern end. plenty of restaurants and cafes facing the sea at the northern end. there are also a few resorts, offices and university. nice place for walking either on the beach or on the street. the waves can be a bit too rough...
